The Waste Authority is a Recycling Transfer Station and we do not have soil/dirt however I will caution you about where you get soil and dirt. Make sure they are a reputable facility as contaminated soil and dirt has been offered and received by many for free and in the end it is a very costly cleanup for the homeowner in the thousands.

No we do not accept styrofoam. You can try UPS type package stores as sometimes they will take Styrofoam for reuse. There is no market to recycle strofoam.

Hello Brian, Yard waste, including leaf waste is banned by DEP to be deposited in landfills. Check with you municipality to see if they have a yard waste composting program or give us a call so we can let you know were private composting facilities are available.

Hello Jack, You should first check with your municipality to see when they are having a bulky waste clean up event. If that doesn't work for you then try your waste hauler who may offer a special collection. You can also take directly to the Grand Central Sanitary Landfill in which the Waste Authority has a contract for Monroe County Municipal Waste. Yes, we do take tires! They must be clean, free of dirt and rocks, etc. We do charge for the tires. You may call for pricing!

No we do not. You can hire a private hauler to provide this service. Your current waste hauler should be able to provide this service. I would check with them first. You can go to our website thewasteauthority.com to find a list of private waste haulers.

If you live in Chestnuthill twp. The recycling center will take styrofoam. If not, it goes in the trash. Paint cans with paint in them can be disposed of after putting cat litter in the can and let it dry. Spray paint containers can be recycled whether there is paint in them or not.

They don't take mattresses. But you can take them to Panther Waste on Sullivan Trail in Pocono Pines.

The facility in Blakeslee is for commercial use only. We have two recycling drop off locations for Monroe County residents where can take shredded paper however we do no have shredding services. Shredded paper can be carefully placed into the paper receptacle by placing shredded paper into a paper bag and into the bin. You need to solidify the paint before throwing it away. You can use kitty litter or purchase materials specifically for that purpose from a home improvement store.

Check with your doctors office or near by hospital to see if they will take it or make sure the container is secured as not to be able to open and throw it away with your normal garbage.

You can take plastics 1 & 2 only, aluminum cans and glass food and beverage bottles only to the recycling center in Swiftwater on Route 611 next door to the cheesecake factory. It is gated and operated on the following days and hours: Monday 7:30-3:00 Tuesday 9:30-5:00 Wednesday Closed Thursday 7:30-3:00 Friday 9:30-5:00 Saturday 7:30-11:30 You can also add recycling service to your curbside collection. If you are using County Waste as your curbside Waste Hauler, it is only an additional $5.00 charge a monthly. You must call your hauler for pricing and to start recycling service.
