Station itself is nice, though the surrounding area is terrible. The waiting area, gift shop and all were great. It's close to downtown but the area is really dirty and unsafe so you probably won't want to actually walk anywhere.

It is in a relatively less-safe neighborhood: the tent city of Portland is actually surrounding the station entrance. But inside the compound it is very safe and clean. Great architecture, clean train hall, but could have better PA system. Absolutely a great way to travel if you’re heading to Seattle or southern Oregon/NorCal.

Nice train station in a beautiful brick wall building. So pretty at night. The GO BY TRAIN tower can be seen from multiple locations of the city. …

No, you have to go out front of station, sometimes they don't give you much time so be quick.
Easiest answer would be to use Enterprise as they will pick you up from there
Everyone is very helpful
Union station is the Amtrak. Trimet Max stops are Hoyt& Glisan, respectively, going north and south on the yellow/orange and green lines.
First, you need to be told, this is a very bad area. I would not leave a car in any unsecured area.
One inside station. Would not advise leaving station as area outside is known Portland drug area and you'll be pestered every few steps for money.
A very small parking lot is across the street and expensive. You can park in driveway if you are waiting for a passenger coming in on a train. If you are taking a trip I recommend taking Uber or Lyft, or park and ride a Trimet train or bus. Those stop across the street from Union Station
No, I believe it closes around 10pm and reopens early morning (5 or 6am).
Grab a green line MAX out front of the Greyhound. Transfer to Red Line at the Rose Quarter Transit Center.
the price depends on how full the train is. go to the Amtrak website or call 800-USA-RAIL (872-7245)
Yes food and drink is sold on the train. You are also allowed to bring your own onboard.
If everything is running on time(!) you can pick them up in your car , right outside the station
6. Vancouver WA, Kelso / Longview, Centralia, Olympia, Tacoma, Tukwila.
Yes
Coast Starlight has only one Sightseer Lounge Car for all to enjoy. Safe travels!
Yes, there is a small store with food and some other traveler-related items. They're open for most of the day, but I believe they close around 6p or so.
Yes it's some sort of very important law placed by the government and then Mass do need to be warned they say that it's also a crime if you don't for potentially give him call it away
Go to the counter with the reservation number and Identification card.
Both. you'll show proof of purchase before boarding and again once seated.
Would be best to contact Amtrak either at the Station or the toll free reservation number✌️
There is a marriot that is within walking distance but I suggest taking an uber or taxi to a hotel that is a little further. The hotel will be a nicer one and area will also be more pleasurable.
Yes, you must wear a mask on the train.
From my past experience in traveling on the train there is no restriction on food. you should take a little ice box or lunch bag because when I've traveled I would take a bag and enough room for ice to keep milk cold along with sandwiches and any other type of treats because the stuff on the train is pricey. The train offers coffee, a free cup of ice and maybe hot water for your cup of soup. A cup of soup on the train is $2 or $2.50 take what you can but make sure your stuff is sealed and in the backpack of some sort. You'll have room under your seat and on the top as a carry on or by your feet. I always take the blanket and my pillow too. Happy travels when in doubt, check their website they have a lot of frequently asked questions and answers. They also announced the stops and how long the stops going to be so sometimes you have time to grab a bite or buy other items they do not sell on train. Train always has coffee, fruit, snack n other beverages and food.

It would be best to read Amtrak policy on unaccompanied minors for latest information
Honestly, I would use Uber.
4sure.....There are weight limits so you might want to call or review the website with frequent asked questions and answers....
https://jobs.amtrak.com/ Take an look here to see if there are any openings.
You can either go on amtrak.com or telephone them. We are only Google volunteers, not Amtrak
Buy a service animal harness from Amazon. Amtrak will not alliw animals on board unless service animals, but they are not allowed to ask for documentation. Also the dog must be in a carrier and not able to accidently interact with other animals or people they take offense to. The rules have definitely tightened in that last couple months, but it can be handled. Good luck
Hop the airport max,,,and you'll see Budget, National, Hertz, city bikes,cars.com,Razor,mopeds,etc...
Share a car and zip car are located in downtown Portland also Dollar rental is about 5 blocks souty
If you've got an hour, Absolutely. It's an average 15 Minutes to walk to Pioneer Square (or Pioneer Place Mall) along either 5th or 6th ave and both have access to MAX (public transit trains) if you either dont want to walk or have less time and get lucky. Going by MAX, 5th ave goes towards Pioneer Place Mall and if you get off at Couch St, you Can visit Ground Kontrol Arcade, Floating World Comics (on corner of 4th and Couch) several shops and even Voodoo donuts is on 3rd just a short skip away. Theres also a food cart block on 3rd/4th but I find the carts on 5th between Oak and Harvey Milk (next stop on MAX) to be much better (try the Trio Fajita Burrito at La Jarochita or the Lamb Gyro at Small Pharohs). Next stop off Max is Pioneer Place Mall, not as great as Lloyd Center Mall but decent and more of a landmark since it's only a block away from Pioneer Square. Some call the Square the Living Room of Portland and it is the hub of community in Portland.
No, there is not security outside building after it's closed.
Theres no cell phone lot. You have to pay to park across the street or find street parking. TONS of homeless in the area.
Plan an extra four hours
Walk to the blue line max train headed east toward Gresham and that will get you to a number of different options but my favorite is Swedco right off the ruby junction stop about a 3 minute walk around trip will eat up about 2 of your 4 hrs.hope that helps!!Have a great time in Oregon!!!Oh,tell them Stephen sent you and to ask about a first time customer deal!!!you won't be disappointed!!!
I believe you need id.
Yes, Amtrak Cascades goes up past Seattle and up to Vancouver B.C. It's a beautiful trip. If you need help, links, their reservations number, just ask. If this was helpful, please click on Like. Thanks, and have a great trip.
Yes
Yes, they will accomodate you.
The Portland station closes at 10 pm
After 507 gets in around 10pm
No, there is no car rental at union station.
I would not leave my car in this neighborhood anymore. The area is now filled with IV drug users, used needles are all over the streets here, and this area is now a haven for homeless tent cities. We no longer feel safe taking a walk in the area while waiting for a train connection. We went out looking for food today, but gave up, running back inside for safety. I would not leave a car here overnight.
I am here now, just looked around, then asked. No, there are no lockers.
...530am to 10pm weekdays 630am to 10pm on weekends....click on the weblink, has all the info there....
The travel prices change according to supply and demand. The fewer available sears, the higher the cost, they can change at any moment too.
Yes, as long as the train is on time. Honestly, give yourself at least a couple of hours at any station to make connections. The 14 train today coming up from Sacramento was an hour and a half late.
No, but Greyhound is a very short walk and is practically across the street from Union station.
You need to go to their web site for this information. Www.amtrak.com
Yes, there is a $25 fee. Look on the Amtrak website for the specifications about how travel with an animal works.
That would be a bus operated by the casino. I would call and check with them. Usually casino busses are free.
Ticket office closes at 10pm
Yes you can, if the train isn't sold out...best to buy in advance if you can. Fares go up as the train sells out, and a last minute ticket could cost you double
Google map search says Dollar is the closest, about 6 blocks away.
Use the Amtrak website, you can plug the information in and see all the tickets available.
When is the next train from Portland, OR to Spokane, WA
You can also buy tickets on board the train oftentimes
same as the station's Hours
Parking structure a block down from the station. $9/day It's gotten a better since they cleared the homeless camp out but don't leave anything in the car...
30 minutes if you don't need any services..... .45-1hr if you need help or to check a bag, etc, or if it's a busy weekend
Yes, via Chicago, once daily
It's great bring a blanket and a little pillow and you will just fine had lots of leg room and the foot rest puls up to give you more room for your legs when sleeping
I checked the rates last week. It would be cheaper to park at PDX, then take max, uber, lyft or cab to Union Station
I don't know of any train stations in the US that have a shower. If you are traveling on Amtrak, and are in a sleeper, you have a shower available in the car. If you book a bedroom you have a personal shower in your room.
Yes
