It is a wonderful place, ideal to have contact with nature. You can get there in your vehicle, although the road is a bit narrow, you can also do it on foot, the walk is somewhat long but very beautiful and quiet. On the way we met a bear. Nice place to rest. The entry has no cost.

The viewing spot for these falls is not the easiest to access. The roadway is very narrow and bumpy, so be careful if you have a large vehicle or a car with low ground clearance. There is limited parking adjacent to the road, and the falls are visible easily after a very short walk from the parking area. We visited the falls in the summer, when the water flow was low, so they were not that spectacular. (See photos) I’m sure that in the spring they are much more photo worthy as the mountain snows begin to melt. The geologic formation at the falls is really beautiful, though. I would consider it a “maybe see it again sometime” waterfall, but don’t expect much to see when the water flow is below normal.

The road to the falls is narrow and bumpy. Single lane traffic only leading up to the falls. You can drive right up to it though with parking spaces for about 3-5 cars. In late August, the water volume was just a trickle. It was not worth the effort considering the time of the season in my experience.

It is actually right off the road. Easy for my 86 year old father in law to get close enough get great views. Although, you can continue to hike and explore beyond the view areas.
This is a natural waterfall, if you drive 89 going south towards Tahoe you will know if it's flowing because you will see the waterfall from the road looking up the mountain. Just be careful driving and taking the hairpin turns. To get to the waterfall is a one way road, it's crazy!!
The lower falls are still flowing right now.
You can drive all the way to the falls. Be careful walking while carrying your baby. Go at least 4 hrs before sunset. 45 mins to drive up the falls, 1 hr to enjoy the fall and take pics and 45 mins to get out of there before dark. You don't want to drive down from there in the dark. Good luck and enjoy.
