How well one is treated, depends on who you end up with. One doctor seen in the ER, a woman, was absolutely wonderful: understanding, received immediate relief from suffering, and only then, waiting until I was comfortable, did she begin discussing the health issue that brought me there. Not only that, she saw to it I was contacted over the weekend, because she wanted to change my antibiotic to something stronger! However, two other separate ER visits were horrible. Both male doctors. With the first one, a friend was with me. I arrived in terrible pain, which the doctor marginalized to an appalling, negligent degree. My friend was shocked to witness this doctor and a security person talking and laughing about me in the hall! She was facing the door, I was in back of it and in such pain I wasn't paying attention. I was released in the same condition I arrived in. Upon reading my records, it was clear this guy lied, wrote them to make me appear as a drug seeker. I immediately forwarded them to federal authorities, who I have contact with regarding other very serious situations. The second, same thing, though I wasn't there due to pain but something new. I have multiple overlapping autoimmune conditions, along with a genetic condition, and so if something new jumps out at me and it's the weekend, it's the ER for me. This guy acted like I was wasting his time, and after tests results were in, and I was talking to him, he walked out of the room while I was still talking! There will be no next time at that ER unless I'm literally dying, and maybe not even then.
