Great place to spend an afternoon.

Awesome place to get out and get closer to nature. Lots of trails and picnic areas, saw that they have camp grounds I'm so going to explore and experience ASAP! We will be back again and again to explore every bit of this gorgeous park!

Well maintained and great place to walk a dog.

Beautiful place to visit. A lot of greenery and water to see. Saw a snake chase a frog at the water edge.

ALL RV SITES WILL REQUIRE LEVELING MATERIALS $26/night – County Resident $33/night – Non-County Resident Drive-To Sites with Tent Pad Or Drive-To Sites with Deck 19/night – County Resident $28/night – Non-County Resident Primitive Sites $15/night – County Resident $19/night – Non-County Resident Ice: $2/bag Firewood: $5/bundle
D24 and D25 are the best in my opinion! Both have the most room and privacy out of all the drive up tent campsites.
I think McDowell opens at 7 am actually...
No there isn't a basketball court there, but there is one at Winget Park
The Preseve is open on the 4th of July, however it closes early so watching fireworks from the Preserve is not an option.
The showers in the Campground are in separate individual rooms with doors. There are no publicly accessible showers in the preserve
If you're local just go up there and and go to the office (can't miss it) if not I'm sure that you can call one of the numbers listed. The place is breathtaking and huge. Lot's of thing's to do. I hope that this finds you well.
You have to contact the park rangers. The number should be posted on Google
Can you fish
The park is heavily forested. An open view of the sky will be impeded by trees, and you are close enough to town to get some light pollution.
Depends on when and if any military discounts apply. Go to charlotte Mecklenburg parks and check permit pricing
Currently you must have a NC license on the NC side, but SC is working on a reciprocal license for Lake Wylie.
Dawn to dusk
No. No entrance there for swimming.
No entry fee for general access, no clue about fishing though
I know nothing about swimming off the shore at the park, but we swim in the lake all the time. If your out in the lake and then find a Cove oh, you can swim.
I have never been to McDowell Nature Preserve. I get a survey about attending it everytime that I drive Hwy 49 commuting for my work. I can not answer I have no knowledge of the venue.
You can call ahead. They are very helpful. From what I can tell there are always spots available.
They do not have sewer hookups for your RV except for 2 sites. Not sure why there is a difference in pricing for 🏕 sites because you get the same with a tent and RV. Just water and power
$26-33/night RV $19-26 tents. Lower $ is for county residents.
No it does not
I was on vacation, my Granddaughter took me there, because I walk every morning. It was a peaceful beautiful walk, will definitely go again when I visit
Depends on whether you need tent pad, deck, or primitive sites. The fees are all on the website
No cabins I'm aware of a nice campground however including tent, trailer, and RV spots, various shelters for events and a plethora of nice private and group picnic areas
The lake for recreation, drinking fountains, potable water for camping.
In your comment below you mention trying to find a dog park--if you don't mind going to Pineville, I suggest Canine Commons park. (Just in case you haven't tracked a good park down yet)
