Interviewed with them. Complete waste of time. They don't want to hire intelligent, compassionate, college educated workers which makes me question what kind of non profit they are really running.
Marjanco D Dimovski
I just am shocked. Entirely NYC is corrupted about HUD. This organization making profit by $ fee application. O.mg.. I thought so good in 2-3 can get my own studio, but it's fairytale. Unfortunately "Everything is who you know"or to give $under the table.. Very disappointed

If your having issues with housing or mental health....reach out to (SUS) Services for the Undeserved. Google them and you will be amazed and enlightened by the vast amount of services they provide. stay safe and blessed my people and I hope all goes well!

I've been engaged with this organization for years trying to get social security. I'm very ill and have gotten progressively worse over the years. I've been rejected before but when I saw the rejection letter a bunch of my health issues, including the most significant weren't even mentioned. Ive literally lost count of how many times I've had to provide the same documents, to the same person explained the same stuff over and over its insane! it would be comical if it wasn't so horrible. I've asked for help referring me to a different organization that might be better equipped to no avail and I simply don't have the knowledge or resources to do this myself and I keep getting worse, can't support myself etc. I feel so trapped and hopeless, I wish I knew where to turn. I mean everyone has been nice enough and all but nothing has been accomplished and it's been YEARS. If anyone may be reading this and can refer me somewhere I'd be eternally grateful. I'm just so desperate and frankly scared..

Hi Michelle - you may find applications for our Manhattan buildings (The Times Square, Prince George, Christopher, and Lee) on our website at https://breakingground.org/need-housing. Full instructions on how to apply for our units may be found on that page. If you continue to have questions about the process, please reach out to us via email to info[at]breakingground[dot]org. Thank you!
You have to call or go there. Especially if you R N immediate need. You can read threw the q&a' s 2 find some answers that may help.info website is BreakingGround.org.pls ask if u hav a specific question. I'll check back.It all works out✌
You should call them directly. As I'm in Brooklyn and I know they have different types of programs. And I believe you'r request is an option. But they have to interview you etc....maybe someone else will answer. But if you leave a post on the Breaking Ground reviews. The owner will most likely respond or you'll find you'r answer in the comments.
Call them or email them at info @breakingground.org
Hi Marty, Thanks for posting feedback here on Google. Can you reach out to us at info[at]breakingground[dot]org with the details of the situation? If you or someone you know resides at our Times Square residence, someone from our operations team can assist. Many thanks, the The Breaking Ground Team.
Hi Stefanie - thanks for reaching out to us at Breaking Ground. Our units that are home to families with children are usually available only through the Housing Connect lottery system. We have two buildings in or near downtown Brooklyn - The Schermerhorn (which exclusively serves individuals) and 90 Sands Street (which we just acquired and are in the process of renovating - as soon as renovations are complete, units will once again be available through the Housing Connect lottery, likely beginning in 2020). If you have further questions, please reach out to us at info[at]breakingground[dot]org. Wishing you all the very best in your housing process, The Breaking Ground Team.
Hi Alexis - Breaking Ground accepts all NYC subsidy programs, but eligibility, applicability, and availability of units are usually much more involved than a simple answer to your question. It's always best to speak with a housing specialist who can help determine your eligibility and look at available properties. Please reach out to us at info[at]breakingground[dot]org if you have further questions. The Breaking Ground Team
Ms Driver,I'm sorry to hear of your situation. Ms Ray gave you accurate information. But also to calm your nerves. Go on the reviews and the owner goes on alot. Your question is probably on there already. It's a page of hope, just look for answered questions from owner. And may I say; This to shall pass. Things happen right on time🙆
Hi Renada, and thanks for reaching out to us at Breaking Ground. In terms of buildings that we own or manage, we have a very limited number of apartments in our inventory that feature 2 or 3 bedrooms, and are not currently accepting applications for those buildings. It is likely that applications will be available for Park House (in the Bronx) at some point in the near future. However, since that building was leased up through affordable housing lottery, the waiting list is currently made up of families who applied through that system. Once apps are available, you will be able to download an application through our website at https://breakingground.org/need-housing. We also do the marketing and lease up of affordable portions of buildings for other developers through the Housing Connect lottery system, so Breaking Ground might be assisting you through that process should you apply for a lottery apartment. Please reach out to us at info[at]breakingground[dot]org with questions.
Breaking Ground has multiple unit options available. Please head to breakingground.org to find applications and connect to our intake department who can tell you where one bedroom apartments are available.
Hi Anthony - Though we do have a number of one-bedroom apartments, we predominantly offer studios that can accommodate one adult. Applications are available on our website at https://breakingground.org/need-housing. Are you working with a case manager or housing specialist? If not, we recommend visiting one of NYC's HOMEBASE offices - they are located in every borough. It's always best to work with someone who can look at the full picture of your situation, discover what your goals and needs are, and then try to match you with the right resources/housing.
Hi Fonzy, you can reach out to us at info[at]breakingground[dot]org with the name and information on your applications and someone from our intake team will get back to you on the status. Applying for affordable apartments requires extraordinary patience, and we don't always know when or how units will turn over, so it's impossible for us to provide any kind of timeline. Rest assured, if your applications have been received and are on file, you will move through the system.
Hi Linata - due to the volume of applications we receive, we are not, unfortunately, able to call each individual applicant. If you have specific questions about your application, please email us at info[at]breakingground[dot]org. It is likely that your application is in process or has been added to a waiting list. As turn over of units is unpredictable, we are unable to provide an exact timeline of when you might be contacted.
Hi Cassie - the simplest way to see an outreach team is to call 311 and ask for mobile outreach. Let the dispatch know your location and they will send a team within one hour. Depending on where you are in the City, you might see a team from Breaking Ground, CUCS, Goddard Riverside or BronxWorks. If you would like to provide the neighborhood where you currently stay, we can determine if it's a Breaking Ground area - if it is, we can get you connected to outreach directly. Wishing you all the very best, The Breaking Ground Team
Hi Eric - CityFHEPS vouchers are certainly taken into consideration as part of your income in order to qualify for affordable units. Please note that each building may have a slightly different minimum and maximum income, so it is best to look at the application for each building to determine your qualifications. Please also note that all of buildings that are accepting applications for affordable units have waiting lists, and we certainly encourage applicants to widen your housing search as much as possible for the best chance of finding a unit. Please reach out to our Leasing team at intake [at] breakingground [dot] org if you have further questions. The Breaking Ground Team
Hi Anthony - we're sorry to hear that you're having trouble reaching up by phone. Is there someone you are trying to reach directly? Or a particular department to which we can direct you?
It could take roughly 2-4 months. If you haven't heard from them in about 2 weeks I would call and confirm receipt of your documents. If they don't answer the phone, I'd go in person. Check to see their covid guidelines for in person hours.
Hi There - there are a few different ways to apply for housing with Breaking Ground. If you are looking for an affordable unit, you may apply to join the waiting list for our buildings that are currently accepting applications by taking a look at our website: breakingground.org/need-housing. Applications there may be downloaded as PDF documents and printed out. If you would like us to mail you applications, you'll find our central intake phone number and instructions for requesting applications via mail on that same page of our website. Though we do not have any buildings in the City's housing lottery system at this time, we are often opening new buildings that are initially rented up in that way. You can watch our website or join our email list to learn when new housing lotteries open up. And finally, if you are currently experiencing homelessness and in need of supportive housing, you will need to work with a social worker to complete a housing application. The Breaking Ground Team
Hi Aisha - would you send us an email to info[at]breakingground[dot]org with a bit more detail and any questions you might have? Your inquiry will be routed to the department and staff best positioned to assist you. Many thanks, The Breaking Ground Team
I do not know you have to call them you could go to goggle
Hi Jesse - Generally, yes, our affordable units accept city, state, and federal housing subsidies. For specific questions, please reach out to us via email at info[at]breakingground[dot]org and request information about how to apply for Breaking Ground's affordable housing or visit our website at https://breakingground.org/need-housing. Wishing you all the best in your housing search - The Breaking Ground Team
Hi Michelle, and thanks for reaching out to us at Brreaking Ground. You can find applications for Brooklyn buildings on our website at https://breakingground.org/need-housing. You can filter specifically for properties located in Brooklyn - at the current time, we think the two building accepting applications would be The Schermerhorn, located in Dowtown Brooklyn at 160 Schermerhorn Street, and The Hegeman, located in Brownsville Brooklyn at 39 Hegeman Avenue. The units at both properties will be studios for one single adult. Please do reach out to us at info[at]breakingground[dot]org if you have further questions. Many thanks, The Breaking Ground Team
Hi Shirley- Breaking Ground primarily has studio apartments in our portfolio. Though we do have a few buildings with larger apartments, we are not currently accepting waiting list applications for those units at this time. We will be announcing new units that will be leased up through the Housing Connect lottery system later this Spring, and those units will likely be rented up in the Fall. You can learn more about our buildings that are accepting applications at https://breakingground.org/need-housing
I'm also looking for a 1 bedroom apartment.
Hi Rose - Breaking Ground has a mix of supportive housing (for formerly homeless individuals and families) and affordable housing (for low-income working individuals and families). Please note that most of our units are studios or micro-studio apartments that are suitable for a single adult. We do have a small, but growing, number of larger units that are suitable for small families. If you need further assistance, please reach out to our Central Intake information line at (800) 324-7055 or visit our Need Housing page at https://breakingground.org/need-housing. Wishing you all the best, The Breaking Ground Team
Depending on what building you applied for, the wait list for Breaking Ground buildings are 2-5 years minimum. If you apply for 3rd party (lottery) there's less of a wait.
It takes at least 3 weeks from the date you sent the appeal in.
Thanks so much for reaching out to us, Maria. We have a very limited number of 2-bedroom units in our portfolio, and we are not currently accepting applications for units of that type (applications are available primarily for studios at this time). Should we begin accepting applications for our 2- and 3-bedroom units, they will be available on our website at www.breakingground.org/need-housing. In addition, we will be opening a new building with supportive and affordable 2-bedroom family units next year in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Should you have further questions, please contact us at info[at]breakingground[dot]org.
Hello Millie, and thanks for reaching out here on Google. Unfortunately, we cannot predict exact timing of notification for you. The developer is reviewing your eligibility and the available apartments that match your reported income levels. Once eligibility is determined, a City employee needs to review your file. We'll contact you if there are any follow up questions, and you'll hear from us on eligibility just as soon as possible. Thanks very much for your patience.
Hi Yomery, and thanks for contacting us! You can find applications on our website at https://breakingground.org/need-housing. If you would like us to mail you an application for a specific residence, call 800.324.7055 and leave your name, current address and the residences for which you would like an application. Remember, each residence has its own application and must complete that specific application to be considered.
Hi Joanna, thanks for reaching out to us here on Google. Breaking Ground does not issue housing vouchers to individuals -- all housing vouchers are typically issued by federal (HUD Housing Choice vouchers) or state/local programs (the CityFHEPS program). Some of our permanent supportive housing has project-based vouchers (where the subsidy is attached to the unit), and these units are all reserved for people who are exiting homelessness - all of these units are accessed through the Coordinated Assessment and Placement System (CAPS) administered by the NYC Continuum of Care, as required by HUD. Still have questions? Please send us an email at info[at]breakingground[dot]org and we'll be happy to provide you with as much information as we are able! The Breaking Ground Team.
Mr.Darielle I'm with you on that.But not with this outfit.And the people are a really fair mix.They set the tone of what diversity should look like.But@grocery stores&mc'D's etc...yea it's reverse racism.Thats y I went bac4my bachelor's degree✌
Hi Reynaldo - we do not currently own or operate any permanent housing in Queens at this time, though we do have a future project planned not far away in Jamaica (that will probably be developed beginning in 2021). A good option to get assistance with the housing process is to contact your nearest HOMEBASE location at phone # 718-674-1000. They should be able to direct you toward the best help for your particular circumstances. If you are experiencing homelessness and want to see an outreach team, please call 311 and ask for mobile outreach.
Hi Florence - the great majority of the units we own and operate are studios, and at the moment, applications are only being accepted for studio apartments. Several of our upcoming projects will have one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments available. These will be rented up initially through the NYC Housing Connect lottery system. We'll have announcements about those opportunities through our website and on our social media channels. Please reach out to us at info[at]breakingground[dot]org if you have any further questions! Wishing you all the best, the Breaking Ground Team.
Hi Anais, thanks for reaching out to us at Breaking Ground. Would you send your question to us via email - info[at]breakingground[dot]org - and someone will respond to your inquiry within two business days. I realize you may have submitted your response to a different email, but the account above is monitored and typically is able to provide responses in a timely manner. Many thanks, the Breaking Ground team.
Hi Suzanne - are you working with a case manager or street outreach team? The best way to get connected, wherever you are at, is to call 311 or have someone call 311 on your behalf and ask to see a mobile outreach team. The team will come visit you wherever you are within one hour. They can start to help you get connected with services and housing.
Hi Diedra, Can you send us an email to info[at]breakingground[dot]org? We'll make sure that you get a response as soon as possible! Sincerely, The Breaking Ground Team.
Hi Johnny, thanks for reaching out to us. Breaking Ground has a limited number of apartments for families with children, and none of the buildings we manage are currently accepting applications for units with 2- or 3-bedrooms. If you are currently in shelter, we encourage you to work with your housing specialist to find affordable options that fit your circumstances. Wishing you all the very best in your housing search.
Hi Shakeya - Breaking Ground manages only a very small number of 2- and 3-bedroom units, and we are not currently accepting applications for units of that size. Are you working with a case manager or housing specialist through the CityFHEPS program? Those folks are best placed to help find a housing solution that fits your needs and circumstances. Wishing you the very best with your housing search.
Hi Mary, thanks for reaching out to us. It does not appear that we are currently accepting applications for units of 2 or 3 bedrooms at this time. You can watch the "Need Housing?" page of our website for applications to Park House, The Sydelle, and/or The Leninger buildings - all three of those have 2 or 3-bedroom units. Wishing you all the very best in your search for housing. The Breaking Ground Team.
Hi Joel - any questions regarding LINC IV or V vouchers should be addressed to the NYC Human Resources Administration. Did you have a case manager in shelter? Is is possible to reconnect with them? If not, we recommend you visit one of the several Single Stop resources centers. They should have housing specialists available who can assist you with your questions and case.
Hi Jonathan - The best way to get help is to call 311 and ask the operator about accessing shelter services. If you are currently on the street, you can also ask the 311 operator to connect you with street outreach, and a team will come and visit you where you are within one hour. If you don't have a phone, any of the LinkNYC kiosks allow you to call 311 and other phone numbers to get help. The outreach teams (depending on where you are in the city it could be a Breaking Ground team or one of our partners) will be able to help you navigate the system to try to get connected with resources that meet your needs. If you are in Manhattan, you can reach our outreach teams directly at 800.871.8910. If you are in Brooklyn, the number is 718.360.8000. And in Queens the number is 929.218.7359.
Ann, we are glad you reached out to us. To see an outreach team, call 311 and ask to speak with mobile outreach (you can also use any of the LinkNYC kiosks to reach 311 for assistance). A team will come to visit you within one hour - depending on where you are in the City, the team will be from Breaking Ground or one of our outreach partners. The immediate resources available will be referral to the New York City shelter system or a drop in center. There, you will be able to find assistance with seeking out permanent housing options. The teams can help you get where you need to go in order to access shelter or drop-in centers.
I'm going to my interview for them tomorrow for park house hopefully it's a fast process
Hi Jabes, we're so sorry to hear that. The affordable housing process can take a significant amount of time, and we always recommend that you prepare yourself for that. In the meantime, if you need immediate assistance with housing or shelter, contact 311 for emergency housing options. Applications for the waiting lists at our permanent residences are available to download from our website. Note that each building has its own application and you will need to complete a separate application for each one.
I feel your pain Mrs Maldonado I was homeless for a time in my life.
