Had a great time here. The house was outstanding. I read most of his books, The one that most people know is, (The legend of Sleepy Hollow) when my family members invited me to join them I said yes.

The original two room building was part of the manner of philipsburg, built around 1690. The house was called wolfert's roost. During that time the phililses family was involved in the Atlantic slave trade which they did use slaves to construct most of the buildings on the philipsburg property. By the 18th century the family had one of the largest slave holdings in the colonial North. Sleepy hollow also has a package deal where you can buy a ticket to see all the sights for a full year. This allows you to visit the sites as many times you wish. Also get you in to see all the Halloween events. It also includes the storyteller Jonathan kruk, Dickens classic the Christmas carol at the old Dutch Church. I strongly suggest you call the philipsburg Manor and inquire about this package. it is simply the best small town package I have ever come across and worth every penny.
There is quite a bit going on, James really hits the nail on the head. One thing that I love was the walking tour through the cemetery, they even do tours of the area at night by lantern.
You could take pictures outside, just not inside the house. Not sure what the logic was...
Roughly 1.5 hours, including time asking questions after the basic tour.
