By far the most difficult hike/climb I’ve encountered .. The first time was last Sunday and I wasn’t expecting the amount of challenge I had stumbled into 😂🤷🏾‍♂️. I stopped more than a few times bf I hit the top. This past Saturday I had to do better, took me 58 mins to the top and 35 mins down. ✅.. Great views throughout .

Beautiful scenery, not an easy hike so know your limits and go early before it gets really hot, watch out for the rattlesnakes!

This Echo Canyon trail of Camelback Mountain is a great hike and the original trail, before the less advanced Cholla trail was added to the other side of the mountain. 1.3 miles to the top. Challenging. Plan accordingly so you can get down with plenty of light and not be in a rush, as there is plenty of loose shale. Recommend hiking boots, not sneakers. This hike is shorter than Piestewa but more challenging, if you exclude the tiny jaunt on the small pinnacle of Piestewa, where you have to pull yourself practically straight up to touch the plaque which marks completion. Will require some bouldering and pulling yourself up with their carefully placed poles. I took my 50+ yr old mom a few times until she decided it was too much for her and she was done, but I know lots of people that age climb it every day for exercise. Stay on the path. The city will charge you big fee if they have to rescue you with a helicopter.

It is a manageable hike go when it is cool.

Can you go 1/2 way. Is it worth it? ie. good view etc

You can go as far as you want. They recommend when your water is half gone turn around so you have enough for return trip. The views and trip is worth it no matter how far you go.

Are Pets allowed on camelback mountain hike?

No signs said they weren't allowed. They would probably be fine on the lower portion before the heat of the day. The further you climb you'll need to climb over rocks and I wouldn't think it would be easy for many animals. I hope that helps.
