I camped here with a group of friends this past weekend. A solid spot with a good tree cover and clear underbrush. Most of the sites are slanted though, but we were able to find places to pitch tents without too much rolling. The picnic tables and fire rings were in good shape. There was a bear box or two on some sites, but most didn't appear to have them yet. We just put all our food and trash away in the car every night and had no issues. The trees helped the area stay cool and still let enough open sky through. The stars were beautiful and very visible every night as there was very little light pollution. There's a meadow next to the campsite that's a beautiful spot to take in the sunset and see the stars. I didn't have much interaction with the host, but there was some firewood. It's a heavy ATV area, so that was a background noise at times. Overall though, a great time and I already recommended it to a few friends because we were able to book last minute this summer.

The camp host at boca springs campground "Hannah" was so helpful and friendly. The campground is very well kept, quiet, and clean. We loved our stay only wish we had booked it for a longer stay.

Questions & Answers

Is there plenty of shade for July camping? Are bears prevalent and do they have bear lockers?

Yes plenty of shade. I have been camping there all of my life and have never had a bear issue. There are not bear lockers unless they are new as of this year.

How much money is it to camp there?

They book through recreation.gov. I think it was $24 a night, or somewhere around there. Our family had a great time there a few weeks ago.

Can we go kyaking there? We have 2 medium size dogs and 3 adults. What would be full cost for 1 or 2 days?

The campground is a 10 minute drive from the nearest place where you could kayak, if you bring your own.
