We absolutely love this place it's beautiful, quiet and very relaxing. BUT we had friends over to our site and they went to leave at 10:15 and were locked in!! there was no number posted to call anywhere. The next day we were told if it were an emergency we would call 911 and the POLICE would call the camp host?? and then she hung up on my husband... I think they should tell you that you will be LOCKED in after 10 and give a number to call when you check in.

The absolute best State park I've visited! Our site 21D in Henderson point was perfect for the sunrise!

Cathy, no cabins. Tent camping is available and each site has its own experience and setting. Prices are very reasonable. There is one water faucet per every 3-4 tent sites. No electricity. bath houses are all within easy walking distance and cleaned multiple times a day. Each site has its own fire ring and picnic table - fires outside the ring are illegal. pets are very welcome.
Just hiking as far as I know. My kids also ride their bikes on the trails as well.
Just about every lakefront campsite has it's own personal beach. I would wear foot protection because of the possibility of wayward fishing hooks and occasionally broken glass by people who don't respect our beautiful resources!
You can fish off the bank at nutBush
I think if it keep raining their no chance of the park opening . at that time but who know call the campground ask if they are open .
We were on area 3. Very nice place. The mornings were very beautiful.
Depends where you go. At Nutbush I've had decent coverage lately.
The best park to swim is Satterwhite Point. It's a public access park with many places to swim. I think it's $6 per car. However, you may be allowed to enter any campground after paying the $6
Satterwhite point should be open. You will absolutely love the entire area. They have a designated swim area, however; you can swim anywhere you choose if no one is fishing that particular area. Plenty of places to grill as well.
Yes there are. JC Cooper campground has several full hookup sites open this winter
No just a big lake
Reserveamerica.com is one way.
We visited for the day and we swam. It didn't cost anything. We are going to call about prices for rent camping later.
No, its a State Park. Its a large lake so Im sure there are some other places or pribate owners that will rent a spot.
According to the sign there no
No
Very doubtful. I don’t think an atv would fit into this park and the environment. I'm not surprised by the other answers that said "hard No."
There are double sites at Nutbush area 1 and JC Cooper. I'm not sure about the others.
Last day of Sept.
No all of them
There are day use areas, including swimming beaches at each Campground location. I was just at Bullocksville for 3 1/2 days and it was a very nice swim beach
Buggs island park has the newest and cleanest...
Yeah, and the lake is so large you're not likely to run into traffic at night
I'd say the hibernia part. But if you pull it up on a map there are several diff public swimming accesses.
Depends if you get a lakeside spot. They have both. Can walk from the none lakeside sites
There is a small amphitheatre but it doesn't look used. It's got maybe 4 small benches that would hold 5 people. Not sure what you were hoping for but it's just not well taken care of.
No its seasonal camping
No this site is seasonal
In most instances, but some areas are rocky.
Yes there are, and some outside to blow up an air mattress.
What campground?Bullocksville point i know.Do not know any others.
There are bathrooms at all of the NC lake campgrounds which are right on the water. If you are just going for the day, I'd go to the Henderson Point State Park just off of Highway 39, north of Henderson and very close to the NC/VA border. There are a couple of options there near swimming areas.
