There are a few people like Mrs Carmen Fowler, Mrs Cheryl, Erica and the other women staff treat you like human beings, Mr Dwayne President he does a wonderful job, but the other men staff are rude. The kitchen staff is rude and decided that they should serve water only with meals, they serve old food and expired food and load their own cars up with donations from the churches and other organizations. We are human beings who just are having a hard time at the moment. They curse you out if you prefer certain things that are being served, we who are working come in afterwards and sometimes don't get meals, they decide who gets a late meal, tonight I got a soggy ham salad sandwich and it was 3 extra meals behind the desk. Certain staff needs to be trained in the field of helping the misfortune and know how to speak to a person. We sleep in cold air even when it's freezing π₯Ά temperatures outside...the people who donate needs to know what is REALLY GOING ON π. THE MAYOR NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. THE CITY OFFICIALS NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON, AND THE CLEANING CREW WHO IS COMING ONLY CLEAN THE BATHROOMS AND FRONT AREAS ONLY. SOME OF THE VOLUNTEERS FROM THE SHELTER WERE SEEN IN BEDROOM SLIPPERS AND THEY MAKE BEVERAGES LIKE TEA AND JUICE FOR THEMSELVES. Security guard extort the guests out of their own store bought food, ridicule you if you are gay and call you milk dud head if you have alopecia, suggest you call Bosley for hair kitchen staff denied second plates only to carry extra plates home lie and say nothing is there even if you saw delivery trucks bringing in donations from churches and other organizations, people from the streets feel sorry and pull up bringing in food for us πΊπΈ

Yes
Yes they do. Unfortunately the shelter is going through renovation at this moment. They are not closed, just a different way to get admitted. I implore you to physically go down there and find out the steps. There is some construction going on out front but you have to go all the way to the back and seek information there
You will need to provide verification of job and yes they will
Yes
The Shelter is a safe haven for those who are misplaced and have a honest desperation to do better, they use it as a stepping stone to move forward in their life. Some say if it were not for the shelters across the country a great deal of people who need these types of places and services would be left out of that American dream, and to effect change in someone else's life. Frankly we need shelters. And as far as the cleanliness of the shelter, yes the guest that stay there should pitch in to also keep it clean. So with that being said I am signing off. Yours truly Michael Akbar.
Yes
I ask that question for the last 8-10 years. When I was living there in 2002, we had to take a breathalyzer test 2 times a day, once 6am, 4pm. If you didn't pass, you went to Detox. If you didn't pass your drug test you went to Detox. I ask the people who are in charge, they tell me it's their problem to help themselves, we just want them off the streets and we get them in housing. I wish someone would could put it back to old ways of getting in FOR HELP.
Donation to Crisis Assistance
Yes just take them up there
Call 211 for an assessment after that you have to report to the shelter or call at 8 am till you get a bed or a mat
Yes you can, as long as you do your initial intake first. Call 211, you can do it over the phone. And they say be there at 8am. It's winter, it's cold, its going too get crowded early, space is limited. GET THERE EARLY. Take care.
Yes They accept both new and used items. The men there would truly appreciate anything.
Did u talk to him about it
When you get to Charlotte dial 211 from your phone for sure you have to do online assessment then they will direct you to a location to do a on-site assessment then you will come to the shelter and they will do it in take depending on your homeless needs you can get a Matt until your number picks up for lottery then you can get in they are in the process of remodeling they will be finished around August 18th and the shelter will reopen right now there's three different sites so you will probably be sleeping at the Statesville Avenue facility
Try the greenway between Carolinas Medical Center and the Midtown area where the Best Buy is
Each case is handled differently depending on your situation. First you need to fill out a coordinated assessment for them to assess your particular situation
Yes, but how it works here in Charlotte it's more like "First come first Serve" but you can get a Mattress and after interview for intake then you Earn a Bed, it's 2 Men's Housing building and it's like a Jail environment to be Honest but I would advise you to Work 2Jobs Asap to make Enough to get 1bdrm Apt. And Last thing Lock all your personal belongings in your Vehicle because of the bad Theft problem in the Shelter, "Good Luck"
Yes. The Men's Shelter of Charlotte has a housing program that assist the guest of the shelter find housing.
No. The Women's shelter will help her. Google it.
The emergency shelter is located on Statesville Ave, I recommend checking with them. As for the primary shelters there is a lottery for entry. You can get more info by calling 211 or the shelter.
You have to go through a lottery process which isn't hard. You cant just walk up and get a bed. Once you go through the process u will get a bed and if u work it's cool as long as u can show proof that you actually work late
Yes at first you have to go through the lotto process to get a room and then when you do get a room when you win the lotto there's people that come here on certain days of the week and then we'll help you get your ID, birth certificate, social security card first you have to call 211 and tell him you want to sign up for the lotto for the men's shelter and then you answer all the questions at the ask you and then you keep calling the shelter every single day when you get to shelter number and you keep seeing if you have won the lotto
They will take the meat if it's already cooked and you bring it to the side kitchen delivery dock I know I'm a residence with a bed
If you are a client you would be able to get in after work. Sleep all day except when all clients have to leave from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. for cleaning. To get in shelter you must enter a lottery at 8 a.m. to become a client
Yes they do
Kall 211 and go to urban ministry to get on the lottery to get in a good shelter they'll Assist you from there but call 211 for sure
Most clients will charge you $5 for a haircut a client is somebody who lives at the homeless shelter
You need to head to urban ministry up the block they do shower sign ups in morning and sometimes in afternoon
Yes they r
Yes
I don't understand your question?
Women shelter does, Men's does not. Shelter is over crowd it. No place to separate men with children and men area.
I would say that they do, it's a violation of federal law if they refuse you services. Urban ministries and the men's shelter are now under the same umbrella
U-Haul would be a better place to go at and safer also.
Services are available. But you can't make someone reach out for services.
Yes they do. Dial 211 and you can begin the process
They've got a woman's shelter on Spratt St., at the Salvation Army. They've got Wi-Fi as well Annette.
8am is correct, but the line always starts much earlier. Do yourself a favor and dial 211 as well, you can do your initial intake over the phone and be that much farther ahead.
If its your first time you will need a If it's your 1st time you need to do assessment 1st Call 211 on your phone to start a process. If you already have a bed there and used a pass to leave then you just check in when you return.
Well my brother job is looking for him to work overtime. How do I get him the message
I have a friend that's homeless and need somewhere to go IAM asking will the shelter definitely help him .
Just hang in there. You will get a bed soon.
I can't tell you specifically, per se; but if you've been on a mat for 3 weeks already, then you should be getting a bed shortly. I would guess, in no more than a week.
Unless it's below freezing, no. I would strongly suggest that you dial 211. You can do your initial intake over the phone. Then make sure that you are down there in the morning. I would suggest 7:30, or a little before. It's first come, first served in the line and then they do a lottery once they take your name and you're inside.
Call 211 for Mecklenburg county and they can do your initial intake over the phone. Take care and good luck with your situation. And make sure that you get down to the shelter(N.Tryon st.)early; before 8am
Yes
Yes they do, once you are a resident and have been assigned a case manager. That usually occurs within 30 days after you are assigned a bed.
I couldnt tell you. Im about to thay way myself. I have a job that starts training on thursday but i live in shelby and my car is deadlined
What will i need to do? Its been a very long time since ive had to stay there
Coordinated assessment M-F 7:30a-3-30p at the shelter....also call 211 to get it started
Yes. First you would need to have your coordinates assessment completed. You can have the assessment completed at the urban ministries. It will determine if you're eligible for the men's shelter and it will also assess if your eligible for housing.
So i wont be able to get a bed tomorrow night
They have outdoor lockers until you're assigned a bed...its suggested not to bring bring more than 2 large bags due to limited space.
yes all week not turning anyone away
It depends on your case plan, if your compliant with the plan and overall if you're doing what you're suppose too. Some guys need a month, other needs 4 months. It all depends..
