This was going to be our 95th VFW we stopped at. We are visiting from out of town and was going to show a local friend the VFW to see if he wanted to sign up. The door was locked even though the hours were posted. That’s ok we have been to a couple before. I rang the door bell and one of the members said first thing “This is a private members club.” I said I am a member. He told me that if I was a member I would have a key. I told him that I am a life member of the VFW and was visiting from Michigan. I tried to show him my life card and he slammed the door in my face. North Carolina State Commander this is not how the VFW is suppose to be to combat veterans. VFW 5305 in North Carolina was so welcoming and friendly. We are glad we were able to at least see one VFW before we left the state that actually represents what the VFW family is all about.
