The staff in the back were not nice at all. No bedside manner from the nurses.

I had a terrible experience yesterday at the Cleveland County Health Department. It is debatable whether the problem is rooted in accountability, organization, or carelessness. They did not appear busy, yet took a long time to see me. Here’s the terrible part: a needle was held in my arm for minutes. The nurse was drawing blood for a titer, but did not check to make sure she had all the required materials to do so. So, after I was already stuck with the needle, it was realized that a crucial material in the blood drawing process, the vacutainer, was not attached to the needle. She yelled for another staff member to bring it. I waited with the needle in my arm for what felt like forever. As she was talking to the person about bringing the vacutainer, she accidentally moved the needle around and I started bleeding down my arm. When the piece was finally brought to the nurse, it did not work for some reason. She continued to try and draw the blood, which caused me severe pain. It felt like air went into my vein. I started to cry. She finally took the needle out. The nurse tried again with my other arm; this attempt was quick and successful. (She made sure all the materials were present this time.) It took all day to recover from the experience. I couldn’t straighten my arm for the rest of the day. I woke up with a nasty bruise around the spot where the accident happened. All the necessary materials should be present for drawing blood BEFORE sticking a needle into someone. While another person gathers materials for the nurse, the nurse is the healthcare professional that is responsible for the patient’s (in this case: my) health. They are responsible for ensuring that the process is successful and that situations like this do not happen. In spite of this terrible, preventable experience, I wasn’t offered a refund. I spent over a 100 dollars on two titers, all to get tortured. I would discourage anyone from using the Cleveland County Health Department…especially for lab work.

I go here for my depo. The nurses are always very nice to me and my visit is typically very fast and easy. However they only get four stars due to the rude receptionists that I have encountered.

This morning I received my 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccination at the fair grounds. I just wanted to give a shout out to our Cleveland County Health Dept. The staff was amazing and so professional. In and our in less than 40 minutes.

I'm pretty sure they do TB test there but you need to call them and ask them for a price. If you have insurance let them know.
