Well documented and well maintained historic site of significant import to Eastern NC. Lovely documented trail that loops past Cape Fear River.

Nice walk around the historical site. Really got a sense of the past from the stones left over from the houses. Unfortunately the little museum wasn't open. However, it's definitely a nice resting spot if you're traveling.

It was a lovely visit. It’s amazing to get to see the ruins of the colonial village and church. I also enjoyed reading and learning about the town and the fort. The earthworks are nicely preserved. The museums also very nice to visit.

We concur! Google has been trying to direct drivers through Sunny Point Military Ocean Terminal (which is federally restricted space and is closed to the general public) since early 2021. We recommend that you notify google of this issue by suggesting a correction on their maps/directions page (we have been doing this to no avail since the issue started). We are located half way between Southport and Leland on HWY 133. Follow the brown North Carolina Historic Sites signage, which will lead you straight to the site.
Steve is right,no they have a huge metal gate to the entrance, but go on tuesday thru Saturday and walk the trails, there is also a cover with benches are to have a picnic
All are correct above
Hi Mark, The entire site is closed (including the grounds) on Sundays and Monday for most of the year. However, from Memorial Day to Labor Day weekend, in addition to our regular Tuesday-Saturday, 9am-5pm schedule, we are open from noon-5pm on Sundays.
Yes i was there when a wedding was taken place i would call for details
Check the state historic website and Facebook. On a time scale a month after Ft Fisher has done theirs.
