There's only volunteering you can definitely check their website and you can sign up they give you a calendar of the events going on and you can sign up to volunteer.
On Best Friends site, click on volunteer and follow instructions.
So sorry about your dog Michele. Thank you for thinking of us and we would be happy to accept your donation. You can stop by any day during open hours. <3
They do have kittens to adopt, but u have to check the website from time to time and be there very early on adoption days...picked up my lil Roze kitten finally and she has been a great sweetheart...good luck in finding yours!
Hi Paulina! You're welcome to come in and look at the cats but we only allow people interested in adopting to interact with the cats (just to prevent the cats from become over-stimulated or upset). If you have extra time, you could always sign up to volunteer with our center cats!
Hi! You're welcome to stop by and see the pets even if you're not ready to adopt. However, our adoption staff only allows interested adopters to interact with the pets in order to prevent them from becoming upset or over-stimulated.
Do u think I could go tomorrow?is their a few?
Thank you for thinking of us! We only rescue cats and dogs at this location so we would not be able to accept parrot donations. You could try the NYC Audobon or Wild Bird Fund!
Hi! We do not accept animal surrenders from the public. All public surrenders would go to New York Animal Care Centers (nycacc.org)
kitten adoptions are $125 unless there is a promotion!
Yes, there are adoption fees. Often though they will have events or promotions where fees are reduced or waived.
Over 12 but you can only start with cleaning. You have to be over 16 to do front desk and over 18 to handle animals
Hi! Our adoption prices can be found on our website and are as follows: Dogs less than six months old: $350 Dogs six months and older: $250 Cats less than six months old: $125 Cats six months and older: $100 We often hold promotions so if you'd like to wait for one of those you can check our website for upcoming specials.
The pet carrier we carry is $30.
Thanks for your question! At the moment, we don't plans for any events in the next few weeks but we will be sure to post here as well as our website when we have upcoming plans!
Hi Joseph! Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us. Due to current circumstances surrounding COVID, all of our pets are in foster homes instead of the center. That means we are not in need of volunteers to walk dogs for the time being. If you'd be interested in helping in other ways you can check out our volunteer opportunities here: https://ny.bestfriends.org/get-involved/volunteer
Hi Seriah! We love our volunteers and would be happy to have you join our volunteer team! Since our center is not open to the public at this time, we have some different kind of volunteer roles available and you can see them all here: https://ny.bestfriends.org/get-involved/volunteer
Great! We have a completely online/virtual adoption process for the time being. You can find out how this process works and view our available animals at ny.bestfriends.org/adopt
There are no training fees for new hires!
Hi! We are not open to the public at this time, our animals are all in foster homes and all of our adoptions are virtual! We still have a need for volunteers so you can join our volunteer team anytime at https://ny.bestfriends.org/get-involved/volunteer
Hi! After you have adopted from us, the animals are in your care! We recommend finding a vet close by to your residence that you can bring them to for a yearly vet check. Please call us if you need some vet recommendations!
Hi Rachel! The age minimum to volunteer alone is 18 however, we have other opportunities for younger volunteers! If you go to our website and sign up to volunteer you will see the option to choose your age. Based on age you will be shown the activities that you can take part in! https://ny.bestfriends.org/get-involved/volunteer
Hello! We have a foster program that you can sign up to join our website. We only place our own animals into our foster program. Hope this answers your question!
Yes what I heard is there is no adoption fee
No we pull our animals from the acc only. You can surrender him there
Yes the NYC center is the closest Best Friends to you! We do have partner rescues that would be closer to you and you can find them here: https://bestfriends.org/network-partners-map
No...dogs and cats
Our adoption prices are listed on our website! Occassionally we hold adoption promotions with special reduced pricing. ny.bestfriends.org/adopt
They don't accept animals from the public.
Hi Lana, We do not accept pets from the public but if you'd like some resources please call us during open hours and we can advise what would be best for the animal.
Yes! You must be 18 to volunteer on your own but ages 12-17 can volunteer with a parent or legal guardian! Visit our website here for more information or to sign up! https://ny.bestfriends.org/get-involved/volunteer
Hi! You can find all of our adoptable animals here: https://ny.bestfriends.org/get-involved/adopt/pets
Hi Alda, Thank you for reaching out and showing your concern for the animals. At this time Best Friends only has rescue network partners in the 50 states however, there are other great rescues that have been involved in rescuing cats and dogs from Puerto Rico that you can reach out to! Maybe try The Sato Project as they have been doing some great work in PR. https://www.thesatoproject.org/
No we don't have the capacity to accept surrenders at this time, we pull from Animal Care and Control. You can surrender your dog there
No appointment needed! You can just drop by and there will always be adorable pets looking for a home, awaiting your visit.
I have a pomerenian if you want I can I can give it to you
Call them
Please do not take pets especially cats to ACC. It is a kill shelter. My sister volunteers there and every Wednesday and Friday they put many kittens and cats to sleep. Heartbreaking..
Sometimes staff discretion
Do you work there ??
Unfortunately we don't help with that. You can try care credit or creating a go fund me
They are a nonprofit organization, I don't believe they are set up for financial assistance. The fees for adoption go towards the care of the animals.
I couldn't say because at times swaps of dogs come regularly best you take a look they do got some great dogs hopefully you do find the dog ur looking for
We do not take pets from the public. To surrender a pet, please contact Animal Care Centers of NYC.
They always have pets for adoption at this location
They have adoptable dogs.
You can sign up on their website bestfriends.org and sign up to an orientation webinar
Hypoallergenic cats and dogs shed minimally. And shedding is usually what people with allergies react to .
They do NOT take pets from the public. Only from shelters they associate with. This Tyson person is giving you incorrect information.
They are mainly an adoption center so they take pets from shelters. They do not take rescued animals from the public, only from shelters they associate with.
They dont take pets directly from people only through rescue organizations they partner with
They dont board. But they could tell you somewhere that does, I'm sure.
Check the website often. The puppies get adopted fast.
Good question, there are a few answers to your question in my opinion and dealings with adoption centers since i have a rescue dog its my 3rd. They sometimes have puppies , might have pugs not sure. They rescue dogs that are abused or abandoned. So a pure bread like a pug might be tough. You might get a small pug mix. They ask you for suggested donations , so they can feed and look after the animals and provide a safe environment until they get adopted. This is why they have a fee. Sometimes a place might have free adoption on certain dates or times not sure about best friends. I did not adopt my dog there , only because when i was there i could not find a match. I found the place to be clean the staff knowledgeable, and the dogs and cats well looked after. There is a process of paper work you will fill out. Best thing is walk in and see what dogs are up for adoption. You can also go to their website and take a look at the dogs. Food and medicine come at a price , thats why
Its 250 for a dog over six months and 350 for a dog under six months
Ok.....now what is the question???
Shirley, you are asking people who have adopted from Best friends pet not the company. Go to their website and complain or call. We can just tell you about our experience.
Youd do best calling them
No teacup dogs. My daughter and I went today and they don't have any.
Have to be honest, French mastive, is a Dogue De Bordeaux?. I have had some French wine . But not affluent in French, but I take your word for it. Now to answer your question. I doubt you will find a French mastive at best friends pet adoption, since it's a rescue center and usually has mixed breeds for adoption. The breed in the mastive, French, Italian might be found at a breeder for those special kind of dogs . You could look online to see who has French mastive puppy's for sale , but to find one at this shelter the chances are slim and none. You could go online and see the dogs up for adoption. A rescue dog is a great dog. I have a pit mix. But if it's a mastive you want looks like a breeder or a pet store is your way to go I would look to buy from a breeder.
I am not sure. I adopted a two month old kitten and paid $125 because he was less than 6 months old. They have different adoption events and fees will vary.
e
If you are not going to adopt a dog , I would say no . They might have puppies available but it would not be in the dogs best interest for you to play with the dog and just leave. Besides if the puppy got injured it would not bode well for the agency. They are open to all people who are serious about adopting a pet.
I would go online to find some other sites , plenty of legitimate rescue centers. Alot of them down south. They spend money on mailings to try to receive donations that was my understanding. But I get your point . Though I hear they are pretty good with the funds they get
Occasionally they do have promotions for seniors as well as holidays etc. There is a super adoption event coming up at the end of May where they will usually have reduced fees for certain pets.
They have free adoption events year round. Follow them on Facebook for updates.
The dogs they have vary as they are all rescues from the ACC. They occasionally do have puppies but there is usually a lot of interest in them. If you are interested in a specific type of dog, you can have them take your name down in case one comes in you would be alerted.
It depends on whether you are interested in a dog or cat and the age of the animal. The center runs events throughout the year where they have discounted prices. Also, occasionally animal will have a sponsor who has agreed to pay a portion of or all of the adoption fee. I'd recommend checking the website or contacting the center directly for most accurate information. They are running a Super Adoption event December 8th-10th where hundreds of animals will be available for adoption through a network of partner agencies, you should definitely check it out.
There aren't fixed prices. anyone interested in Adoption should visit BFAS Adoption Center
Dogs and cats, mo guinea pigs. Rabbits on occasion at Super Adoption events.
All volunteers must be at least 12 years old. Youth volunteers (12-17) cannot volunteer with dogs. Youth volunteers between 12-15 must have a parent/guardian volunteering with them at all times.
