I would go online to find some other sites , plenty of legitimate rescue centers. Alot of them down south. They spend money on mailings to try to receive donations that was my understanding. But I get your point . Though I hear they are pretty good with the funds they get

Probably a good idea to reach out to them directly. You can also check out charity navigator. While they may be spending more on fundraising they are also getting more donations and have a good fundraising efficiency score.
