The medical care provided was as good as can be expected from any hospital anywhere really. The billing department, however, is just hopeless. This was the timeline of events: Went to the hospital in June. Get a bill at the end of June saying my insurance denied the claim. Contact insurance and I am informed they were never submitted a claim by the hospital. Call billing department and discover that all the information was misspelled in the system. Resubmit all relevant information. A month later, get a bill that says the insurance denied claim. Contact insurance (never got a claim from hospital). contact billing department (never corrected misspelled information). I am told by billing department to have the insurance company call them directly because they're too busy to reach out to insurance company. Told them that the insurance won't do that. Was told to, literally, bill the insurance company myself (if only it were that easy). Insurance company says the hospital knows better and that such a call breeches privacy policies. Relay information to billing department and receive a very snide return call saying that they took the time to contact insurance and all is good with the world. Get updated bill a month later, insurance rejected claim. Contact insurance (never had a claim submitted). Rinse and repeat for another two weeks, finally get a hold of someone literate in the billing department who inputs the information properly and the claim is settled in 2 days. Glad I was able to witness the absolute pride of American healthcare.

Avoid the emergency room if at all possible. I was wheel chaired in after a brutal bout with food poisoning that had caused me to pass out and left me extremely dehydrated. Four hours later and still in the waiting room without fluids. Eventually left and went to an urgent care facility that helped me almost immediately. I will never go back.

Every time I come to this hospital it’s another problem. The staff absolutely the worst! So rude all the time. “Hospital policy” only allows one person in the back of the emergency room. Since Covid things have changed but I don’t see the hospital working on changing things back to try and get things back to normal. Limiting family makes it harder for us to care for those we bring in. Especially when the patient can’t advocate for themselves and they have multiple caregivers. You’re only making it harder for us to relay proper information. I’m having to sit in the waiting room on FaceTime. Ridiculous. Also, be sure to inspect your rooms before you get comfortable! Trash all over the floors. Including old bloody IV needles

I don't know but I do know that you can volunteer for hospice over there
Jack, that is a good question. There are some options for that treatment. On our website, you can search for providers related to "Pain Medicine" in Gainesville, Braselton and Barrow. Here's a link to that search page: www.nghs.com/find-a-physician Thanks and have a great week! :)
Type in Google nghs mychart. From there it'll take you to a page where you need to answer some questions to verify identity, then set a user name and password. And you can even post your favorite picture of yourself on your mychart page.
