Dr. Loose is the best vet i've ever had. both she and her team are knowledgeable, skilled, and kind. i adopted my second dog, Ella, from the rescue she started (Small Bites Rescue). when my first dog, Phoebe, needed surgery, she accepted Phoebe as a client even though she was at capacity. when i needed to take Ella out into Long Island for retinal reattachment surgery and didn't have a car, Dr. Loose lended me her own. she is one of the most giving and hard-working people i've ever met. we will miss her terribly when we move out west!

We only recently started going to Dr Loose but I'm so glad we did. The pricing was always fair and she took amazing care of our little kitty. They have an online portal which was extremely easy to use and better than calling and sitting on hold for basic Q&A, appointments, or basic account management. Our little one passed recently and the card Dr Loose sent was an incredible gesture. Thank you to everyone at The Neighborhood Vet for taking wonderful care of Mama.

Questions & Answers

I want to give my dog a rabies vaccine for travel reasons, do I need a scheduled appointment?

Carol Ledesma | May 29, 2022
The Neighborhood Vet | May 29, 2022

Truly sorry but I do not speak spanish. Some staff do. I gather this perhaps is a question about rabies for a dog prior to travel? Questioning if we have had to see them previously? We are only taking on clients in the immediate vicinity to our clinic at this time. This may change in future. Thank you! --Dr Loose

The Neighborhood Vet | Sep 26, 2020

We sure do! They are, admittedly, our most popular appointment choice. Because of this they can book out about 6-8 weeks in advance. Next popular is our evening options. Thank you!--Dr. Loose

So if I make an appointment do you come to my location or do I have to do to your location? I read you’re out seeing dogs? Do you do dental cleaning?

JCr Rodriguez | Sep 27, 2019
Natara Loose | Sep 27, 2019

Hello JCr, We are currently a house call only practice, meaning we come to you. We have a limited drive distance but when setting up an appointment you provide your address and we can help guide if you go to you or not. We do do dental cleanings and numerous other surgical procedures, but these are performed at our surgical/diagnostic center at 1101 Broadway (between Dekalb and Dodworth) in Bushwick. This is also the site of our receptionist and for medication pick ups, etc that clients may need. Hope this helps! Dr. Loose

Do they take walk in ?

Chrissy | Sep 27, 2019
Natara Loose | Sep 27, 2019

We are currently a house call only practice, which means I am out seeing cases all day and therefore not at our "office." Our office is where we perform diagnostics such as radiographs (x-rays), ultrasound, and anesthetic procedures (surgeries and dentistries). Most veterinary clinics avoid the walk ins due to the fact that it can detract from the ability to focus on the scheduled cases, as well as the patient actually walking in. Always best to give clinics a call to see if they have availability. That being said, life threatening emergencies are different and typically accepted at all stationary clinics. There are multiple 24/7 walk in emergency clinics such as BluePearl, Brooklyn VERG, or Animal Medical Center if you are needing something sooner. And there is now a new BondVet that is like a petMD for urgent care that has recently opened that is actually walk-in only. Hope this helps! --Dr. Loose

Can anyone give me an idea of how a visit is?

Jennifer Chory | Sep 27, 2019

Sure thing! I believe this question was already answered here on google, but our examination start at $135 based on location (the appointment scheduler will outline different prices for services). Hope this helps answer the question!

Do you euthanize without an appointment?

jewel gilchrist | Sep 27, 2019
Natara Loose | Sep 27, 2019

Thank you for this delicate question. I am a bit confused by question as in order to have a peaceful passage (euthanasia) there always has to be an appointment. If you are asking if I require a full examination prior to a euthanasia, that is usually situational. Many, many times an owner has already gone through the personal inventory and emotional struggle to come to the decision to help their loved with in their final passage. I try to avoid unnecessary manipulation and invasion of their personal space(examination) in their last moments. And I also try to avoid stirring up the emotional trauma for the owner that usually exists already prior to this decision. I am not sure if this is answering your question or not. As a house call only practice, all peaceful passages (euthanasias) are scheduled appointments.

How much is it for the first check up here. ?

cindyy flores | Sep 27, 2018
The Neighborhood Vet | Sep 27, 2018

Thank you so much for asking! Because we are currently strictly a house call practice (meaning we come personally to your home for your pet’s check up and treatment), our exam starts at $135 for our immediate service area. Our vaccinations, treatments, and medications are additional to this and very competitive in pricing. Any surgical (or dental) procedures or more advanced diagnostics (such as radiographs/X-rays), are performed at our facility on Broadway Ave. Hope this helps answer your question! If needing further guidance, you’re welcome to text or call during our business hours. Thank you! - Dr Loose

what method do you use to de flea a kitten

Carol Teamer | Sep 27, 2018
Natara Loose | Sep 27, 2019

Sorry for the delay in this as I did not get an alert. Options for removing fleas in a kitten depend on the size. Many times a simple bath with gentle soap is enough to remove the bulk of fleas. If old and big enough, capstar can kill any fleas on them within 30 minutes. Regarding chronic monthly topical flea prevention, many exist on the market, but professionally I prefer Revolution as it does more than just fleas and yet is gentle topically. Thank you and again sorry for delay! --Dr. Loose
