AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Sad example of conveyor belt medicine. Business first - place of care second - if at all. Staff has no shame about that. My advice is to avoid this place lest at some point your pet will suffer. Here’s why. * We had an appointment for an Echo Cardiogram for our 17 year old mini daschund. This was motivated by recent severe and persistent coughing (enlarged heart) as well as an upcoming Glaucoma surgery for which we wanted to make sure sedation was safe. Bear in mind our dog is essentially blind & gets scared easily with unfamiliar people &/or environments. This in turn makes us highly concerned pet parents. * The appointment was at 5pm. We knew the date when we made the appointment a while prior, but the time wasn’t given to us until the day before! The day before?! Not ok. Not happy. * I arrive to be told that the cardiologist would be in by 5:30pm and that it was a 5pm`drop-off’ NOT an appointment - Prior warning of this wasn’t given! * I am asked to initial and sign a form authorizing them to sedate my dog. Should they do so, they’ll charge us around $160 or more. Seriously?!! My dog is a living, breathing, much beloved being, NOT a cold sore or an inanimate OBJECT to be zapped at will in order to make their lives easier. *Starting to get pretty p**d off now. My focus was on checking whether sedation is necessary but more importantly ‘SAFE’ for my dog. Theirs was to hone in on sedating him at THEIR convenience & financial gain. DISGUSTING!!! * I’m told to go out & have a coffee, so I go outside & wait for their call. I return a little after 6pm. At 6:15pm I see the cardiologist walk into the building. Then at 7:15pm, I see the cardiologist walk straight out again. NO-ONE says ANYTHING to me. Finally, at 7:30pm I am told my dog is on his way back to me. I’m both relieved & furious! * When I attempted to address the fact that they’d kept me in the dark on ‘what’ was happening & ‘why‘ regarding my dogs visit, particularly given that not only did I NOT get to speak with the Cardiologist, but no explanation nor apology was given as to the cardiologists lack of punctuality, & the long wait & distress this whole episode had most definitely caused my blind, elderly, terrified dog, & therefore me! Instead they made matters far worse by adopting an unprofessional & downright repugnant attitude, particularly the office manager. Her response was to say that my dog had had such exams in the past in another of their locations. The insinuation being that my expectations were unreasonable, & that I somehow am playing games for seeking acknowledgment & full transparency of the situation. When I attempted to get her (the office manager), to be more specific, & explain exactly what she meant by her comments, she massively back tracked instead & avoided offering any clarity let alone responsibility. Pathetic!! Only one person attempted to look at my dog & explain to me what had taken place & what my options might be in my dogs best interests. But this only took place because I INSISTED they do so, since the person I should’ve had that discussion with had snuck in late, then snuck out again without a word - but I shouldn’t have had to force their hand! Are they not a vets? Why must I or anyone else push them to do what we pay them more than generously to do?! Vet visits aren’t cheap as we all know. Both in financial & emotional costs. SO: They wanted us to let them sedate him at their convenience & discretion (putting him at high risk & charging us a substantial fee for doing so). Why? So their `Traveling cardiologist' can cram in as many exams as he can in as short a time as possible at $550 a pop - then disappear without a word to boot?! Disgusting! And they will argue with you on top of it all, rather than respectfully address your legitimate concerns. Grossly unacceptable! I will NEVER go there again & want to warn people away from the dangers they pose to our beloved animal family members & therefore us too. Hence my sounding the alarm. Don’t walk, RUN away from this place, they’re a despicable con!!

Worst vet experience I have ever had!! Diagnosed my cat with diabetes and sold me the wrong syringes for the type of insulin they prescribed which resulted in my cat being overdosed with insulin. Never received any apology or even any kind of response at all when I emailed them about my frustrations and concerns. They clearly do not care about all their patients. Horrible and unprofessional. They make careless mistakes and don’t even bother to answer your questions or return phone calls and emails. I will never take any of my fur babies back there and will make sure to tell everyone I know to avoid this place at all costs. If you love your fur babies DO NOT TAKE THEM TO WEST VILLAGE VET!!!

Questions & Answers

Do you have a feline dermatologist?

Unfortunately, we don't have board certified dermatologist. We are General Practice and can handle some skin problems.

Are you still partnering with the van transport taking pets to & from WVVH? I admit to being leery of getting back on the MTA bus after 7 months at home to avoid getting coronavirus. All 5 need their yearly exams.

Hi Noel, we do partner with Pet Chauffeur who works with pet owners and can help them transport their pets in for vet care. Let us know if you would like to arrange this and we can try to help coordinate this with them.
