I'll never forget my visit to Le Bernardin. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing. I had no reservation and was, quite frankly, looking like a dirty tourist. My clothes were very informal, i was sweaty, tired and had a small backpack and a bag with souvenirs. When i entered the fancy restaurant, the kind woman who received me must have thought that i was there to rob them or something. Nevertheless, they treated me really nice (they even called me 'monsieur') and they lent me a coat, because you need to be well dressed to enter this place. I saw Eric Ripert at the entrance and i was kind of starstruck. I mean i was happy to see him there after seeing him on the tv so many times. My plan was to get a picture with him but i failed miserably mainly due to being a bit shy. I was seated in the lounge, where the lonely and stinky tourists with borrowed coats get seated. I had a couple of glasses of white wine and had the following dishes: + oyster + tuna + foie gras dish + scallop ceviche + 'the egg' desert The dishes were very delicate and the ingredients had almost no intervention at all. What i mean is that the protein was king. The oyster was really nice and they brought a couple of sauces to season the oyster. It was a very fresh and tasty bite. The signature tuna with foie gras dish was too delicate for me. If you took a bite of all the stuff together (i mean the tuna plus the underlying cracker with foie gras) it had a good taste but if you had only the tuna, the taste was too subtle almost bland. The scallop ceviche was a hit and it was very tasty. The egg was a nice little desert. This restaurant is almost too fancy for me. Everybody speaking french kinda place. And now i will quote the gobernator: I'll be back. I want to bring my girlfriend to NY and this place is going to be one of the restaurants where we'll eat. Next time i hope to get a picture with Eric, although i suspect he's not really fond of these type of procedures. Mercy a tous!

Very disappointing. We were seated a half hour after our reservation time. Starters were good. Waitstaff was impersonal- we had 4 different waiters, none of whom introduced themselves. Main courses were overcooked fish with sauces that should be reserved for steaks. Definitely overpowering for delicate fishes. Desserts were overly sweet. Got overcharged for extra wine. Water was $10. This is a relic that is kept in business by its reputation and rich businessmen who can write it off.

Vegetarian tasting was spectacular

3 Michelin stars for a reason.

When I called recently I was told the age limit is 8, but we dined here before with our 3 year old so they might be flexible with that rule. They don't have high chairs or kids menu, he'll have to order from the regular menu. We all loved the food and had a wonderful experience.
Yes, in the bar
At what temperature do you store your seafood?
Not in the main dining room. But if you sit at the lounge, then you can order off the menu. The executive pastry chef is Thomas Raquel.
Expensive for both a la carte, as well as various choices of chef's menu. It's a top rated 3 star Micheline restaurant in Manhattan, not surprising.
Yes
Probably not more than 4.
The service is likely to be identical to earlier times. This is a Michelin star restaurant, they wouldn't keep those stars if they gave less than stellar service all the time.
Yes you can, was there for lunch yesterday
You can order filet mignon on request for lunch.
Yes
No
No
They do not here. They have excellent service no matter your background.
Mr. Figueiredo, this is a 3 Michelin star restaurant. Having eaten there I thought their wine selection was excellent. I can not imagine that their wine selection would be bad by any standards.
Maybe you should consult the sommelier before dinner to get better pairing recommendations.
Jared Anton at 70 it's not worth the time.
I believe it's on their website under wine list https://www.le-bernardin.com/menus/wine/wine-program
LeBernardin is one of the top ten restaurants in the world . It's not a cheap place .you have to figure about 100 min per person ...on the low side the pre fix is 185 per without wine ...around 300 with wine .. To me its worth it . It's more then a meal it's a memory of a lifetime .
If you are in the dining room men require a jacket. In the lounge a jacket is not required but recommended
suggest you call the restaurant - they would be more than happy to help with this
Not me. It seems to me to be a big waste to spend the money to go to the restaurant and not partake in fish and seafood, their specialty. But, regardless, i'm sure their vegetarian tasting menu is fabulous.
As others have said the menu changes, however last time I was there they did offer detail , though they did not say its origins
Do you carrie STEAMERS
Yes they serve lunch. It's a great way to enjoy the afternoon!
You'd better make a reservation if you are very specific about the date or time you want to eat there. On the first day of each month they start accepting reservations for the following calendar month.
90 USD three course menu at lunch.
