Oat Hill Mine Trail is an okay trail in Calistoga. It is better for hiking than mountain biking. The trail is basically a narrow fire road which steadily ascends the hills to higher elevations with a few viewspoints along the way. The trail is covered in loose rocks after the first half mile. I biked up about two miles before deciding to turn around. The views are best up to about 1.5 miles from the trail head. After the first mile marker the forest is burnt and the burnt trees continue all the way up to the top I believe. Best to visit in Spring, but a majority of the four mile or so trail to the top is burnt.

The parking spaces at the trailhead are limited but the street parking is plentiful. Nicely shaded trail for the first half mile or so. Uphill but not too steep.

Great hiking. There are some alternative trails off the main trail that offer a more challeging hike and nice views. Bring plenty of water and star early on the morning. Hiking shoes recomended.

Beautiful trail! We didn't make it all the way up to the top. Wanted to get back down the hill for wine tasting :-) but it was great exercise and beautiful views!

Well it's an out-and-back so you're looking at about if you go to the top about a 10 Mi round trip
