This is a must see place with the biggest petrified trees in the world. The 20 minute easy hikes takes you up into the forest and across ancient ash flows that look like concrete. Throughout the hike are many different petrified trees. For more intrepid folks, there is another 20 minute loop to the meadow. This is a private family owned park with an affordable admittance fee. They committed to supporting & sharing this natural wonder. There are nice clean restrooms, picnic tables, and a gift shop with cold drinks. There were naturalists available that could answer our questions. They were very knowledgeable! After our hike we enjoyed a cold soda under the shade of a 600+ year old Oak tree. An extra bonus: we were able to bring our leashed dog. Wear sturdy shoes - the trail is good and wide, but has lots of stones. I regretted wearing sandals. It was 95° the day we were there. There is plenty of shade on the trail and several well placed benches if you need a rest.

A commercial tourist park which is small but nice. Entry fee seems high for size of park and value of natural exhibits. Family owned for generations.

Nice place to visit, good for kids. The hike is not too bad at all, even with kids. Beautiful scenery, at a good price to visit.

Amazing historical site with million year old petrified forest remains. A short trail loop with legends and timeliness. They also have a small covered picnic area near the gift shop. Don't miss the short hike to the ash fall and view of Mt St Helena.

Hello! For now the trails and the gift shop are closed due to the fire. The main building is still standing but all of the inventory has been removed for cleaning. We hope to be opening in the next couple of months. Thank you for thinking of us and Happy Holidays.
There are benches in the park. Also a table next to the gifts shop.
Parking lot is big enough for an RV that size. I do not think overnight parking is permitted. I am sure you can find a turn off near by to park, or a campground close by to park.
Yes! They are. Just have to be on leash.
you got a camera you can go hunt them all you want
Hello Adele! We were recently closed due to the evacuation orders during the Glass fire however we are back open! We do have free parking and bathrooms and all of our trails are open. The gift shop if closed for indoor shopping due to Covid-19 restrictions however we do have an outdoor shopping area where all of our goods can be viewed and purchased safely. Thank you for your interest!
That sounds compelling. You seem certain that you have petrified items. While not uncommon, hand and bite imprints are. I am not a scientist, but with a little searching and emailing you can find one with better feedback.
It would be difficult for a wheelchair to maneuver through.
Hi and thank you for your interest! For now we are closed due to the Tubbs fire and hope to reopen in a couple of months. You can always check our Instagram or Facebook pages for updates. Happy Holidays!
Don't hold your breath. The Tubbs fire went right through this area. I am surprised that the gift shop survived at all. Thankful that it did survive. This place is a great local icon.
Yes! as long as they are on a leash! We hope to see you (and your dog!) when we reopen!
