I was baptized as an infant by Fr. Augustus Adolphus Birch and grew up in St. Georges from the mid 40s thru the early 70s. My mother, Ethel Brookins, was the first female Vestry person at St. George's. I sang in the choir, played organ for the Young People's Service at 9:00 am. This was a small community-minded church that was always engaged in helping to improve the lives of the community it served. My most recent visit there showed me that things are still very much focused on serving the community.

I visited the church for christmas eve mass while our stay in DC. I was welcomed in a magnificent way even tho I am catholic but wanted to be on the Xmas eve mass. What a lovely people I found there. Music, cookies, warmth. Very nice people. God bless you all.
