Required payment of a deposit totaling more than ten times my monthly bill to start service. When asked for an explanation none could be given and there was no workaround. When you’re a monopoly there’s little incentive to appease customers, even potential ones.

Duke Energy called to let me know that a rental I own would be getting a new meter installed. I asked they call the tenant and schedule it with her or the other resident. They worked it out. The meter is in a gated area where her dog gets out and plays. She called to share, the person that installed the meter left tape, nails and screws. If they are going to be in someone's yard, they need to clean up vs. leaving a hazard to puncture a riding lawn mower tire, tape for a dog to get ahold of or screws or nails for someone to step on by accident. Not a good thing. There needs to be a safety meeting with your in company or third party installers.

Terrible customer service, very inefficient. Takes them months to update a simple information change.
