I believe they do. They do them right up until the colder months. However the best time to go is during the fall when the leaves are changing. Just taking this beautiful ride any time is great especially now that the ride is extended farther north.

when is the best date for foliage viewing during Oct?

Can I get there if I go from Schenectady Rail station the question is can I get there by train? From Schenectady and back?

I would call the train station direct. I know a track does come north to utica as I have taken the train to NYC from utica. But the Adirondack train leaves from utica. So you'd have to take the train up here and then transfer to the Adirondack train. Good luck its a nice ride up north.
