Good heart recovery was an amazing experience! I feel blessed to have had such a wonderful staff to guide me in my journey. What I learned at good heart will stay with me forever! Nurse Rose is the best! She was able to talk to me and meet me at my level every day no matter how I was feeling. Going into a recovery center can be extremely intimidating however I did not feel that at good heart. Everyone was so loving and kind which is definitely needed in this type of situation. I will say that they were short staffed while I was there however the staff that was there definitely made up for that. The friendships that I made at good heart will last a lifetime. I would definitely recommend good heart recovery to anyone looking for a sober future.

Questions & Answers

How can parents help their children avoid alcohol or addiction problems?

Hi Dean, Thank you so much for asking this question here. In general, without knowing the details of any specific situation, parents can help their children avoid alcohol and/or addiction problems by checking with how their children are responding to both their own internal and external environments. If the children are still school age, there are certain stressors that could occur in the home or in the school environment that could trigger negative emotions in the child. If the children are adult age, there are different stressors that could lead to these problems. Having an open line of emotional communication between the parents and children at any age can support the parents in providing coping skills, compassionate connection and an open door to allow the children to address their problems head on versus masking them with alcohol and/or addiction to other substances. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us at (805) 242-2175. We look forward to it!
