Great park! Wonderful beach area that is a nice walk from the Lake Macatawa part of the campground. Great place to bring your bike because the traffic to the beach can get busy and parking can fill up on a nice day. It is often faster to bike than drive.

If you like the beach, especially if you've never been to a freshwater coast, this is a great place to start. It offers a little something for everyone. There is a nice beach that is kept very clean. The swimming area is plenty deep enough to get wet but has lots of shallows for the little ones. A small shop and food/ice cream stand on the beach make staying all day pleasant. You can leave the beach and hike the dunes. There are also campsites and cabins for rent if you want to stay longer.

By far my favorite beach in the area. We have two younger kids and I like this beach doesn’t get super deep right away. It’s quite shallow for a ways out. We always set up our towels near the pier and that helps stop the waves sometimes. The water is usually nice and clear and clean. Occasionally it will be murky and have algae but I think the weather plays a part in that. It’s always busy but thankfully with a park pass we always get a spot and don’t have to walk in. The sand is clean and there’s never really trash on the beach.

Great trail on the shorter side. Can be steep at the beginning and end but other than that, it's a nice hike with a lovely view of lake Michigan, the red lighthouse and the sand dunes. The campground itself is pretty tight quarters. Not many trees, so I wouldn't count on using hammocks. It seems like primarily an rv park. It does have bathrooms and showers in the center of the campground.

Campground is walking distance from beach. There us bathroom and concessions on beach
Starting in 2019, beach campsites open the first weekend of May through the last weekend of September. Woods sites are open April through October.
The beach campsites have 31 sites with water, sewer, and 50 amp service. (down the middle of part of the loop) Other beach sites and the nearby woods loops have spigots in key areas but no water or sewer hookups for campers. Electric hookups are available for all sites.
Yes it is open year round..but in the winter its very cold and snowy...however when the shoreline freezes its an awesomely beautiful sight
I had site 7 near the entrance to the lake campground and Verizon worked well.

No you're trapped in until 6 am. They have armed guards and barbed wire set up. Once it hits 9pm you're either out or in for the night. If you try to approach the guards to explain that you've paid for a campsite they will start pointing their guns and yelling at you.
I love the State park. The lighthouse has been a favorite for everyone. The sunsets are gorgeous!
Verizon and Xfinity provide a signal
Every day of the week depending on the state park attendants If you have other. Questions you may try their website https://www2.dnr.state.mi.us/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?id=458&type=SPRK
Everything is seasonal. Nothing is happening after 9/30.
You should be able to right at the entrance of the park.
Yes, but you need to get a use permit from the parks supervisor.
Depends on what your dumping. The state park isn't a landfill.
Not here, but there is a laundry mat and dry cleaner down the street.
There's a camping area for campers. Im sure there is something.
Take a trail to Mt. Pisgah
As long as you have a license and are on a shore or channel that doesn't restrict it.
Nope. Everything is still closed including the bathrooms
Not likely soon but you can check with them
9$ a day for all without pass, 11$ in state annual for Michigan residents. 31 annual out of state residents
Not sure that is allowed. No sleeping on the beach for sure.
You can walk right up to it, however right now the water is very high
Do you mean for Mt Pisgah?
There are 2 cabins for rent they the state park info on the website.
There are no monthly discounts so it would be daily rate ~ $35 x 30 nights.
I think so, but you might want to Google it!
Yes because it is better to do that then to pay for the gas it will take you to haul the extra weight+ they had good water last year
Here is the link to the website: http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?id=458&type=SPRK
goggle the campgrounds for information
Most Michigan State campgrounds offer electric hookups. Water is available, but not as an on site hookup. Unless it a rustic site, then you get nothing.
Yes there are, the link is below along with some info copies from the site. http://www.michigandnr.com/parksandtrails/Details.aspx?id=516&type=SPCG Each camper cabin has a view of the Holland Channel and the "Big Red" Light House. Cabins have electricity, microwave, refrigerator, and electric heat. They are open year round and sleep six.
It depends on the weather but as a general rule yes.
Michigan DNR campsite has a very nice reservation system you can only Reserve Michigan campsites six months in advance for state parks
The weekend of October 12, I believe - October 12, 13, 14. Unsure if it's just Friday/Saturday or if Sunday is included as well. It's only the second year for it.
All sites in the beach campground are completely paved. The ADA sites just get you closer to the bathrooms.
Leashed pets are sllowed in campsites.
If you don't let them know... Don't make a big deal about it.
I'm not sure if you can purchase wood from outside of Michigan. There are plenty of places around, sometimes just self serve at homes along the surrounding area.
Or walk/bike in. Only motor vehicles need to pay or have the pass to enter.
Yes. The park is located on the north side of the Holland Channel. You can fish off the pier. Additionally you can walk the boawalk to a couple locations to fish in Lake Macatawa.
"Free" if you have a recreational passport. $9 a day otherwise.
The beach probably opens at 9 or 10, seems everything in that area opens at 10
There is a pavilion but I think right now it's under construction. Not sure about the renting part thou.
Yes! And there are grills as well! Have fun and enjoy the park!
I think it is only open Memorial day to Labor day. I am not really sure though.
At most state parks the attendants are usually anywhere around 8 to 10 o'clock. I do believe there is still a self serve station at or near the check in station for late arrivals.
Call the park they can let you know your dates
It depends on the site, you can go to the michigan DNR's website and go under camping to see the cost of the site that you would like
