Best place to camp.

Camping is a must for families with kids. They will never forget the shared experience and the adventures only grow from there.

Beautiful area, with plenty of trails, along creeks and the lake. Also plenty of history here as well. The campground was well maintained and the host was very helpful.

We really enjoyed this campground. The sites are spacious and well maintained. They provide a shelving hut in your space to keep firewood dry. There is a trail that you can walk to see Donner Lake that is easily accessible from most sites. It is about 30 to 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe if you want to explore that area. There is a Chevron gas station right outside the campground that has a dump and fill station if your have a camper or RV. You can also get firewood at the chevron or at the entrance of the campground. There is a cool river rafting area about 10 minutes down the road that we did that was really fun. We didn't give it 5 starts because there is poor signage in the park and on the trail. We had a difficult time finding the exit to leave the campground and we also got a bit turned around once it got dark on the trail. Be aware of wildlife, while on a road walking back from the trail after being turned around we did see a coyote.

All campground at Donner Memorial State Park are dry camping. You can't bring RVs and trailers but there is no hook ups.
There is no cabins at Donner Memorial State Park. Those buildings you may be referring to are staff housing.
No. They do reservatoons and people usually plan months in advance for that place. However, there are cancelations.
