Mark was the best! He came right away when I needed him to and was very clear and specific about what needed to be done to get rid of the mold in my basement. I followed his directions to a tee and the result was that we are officially mold-free! He was a pleasure to work with, very honest, reliable and an expert at what he does.

Mark provide very professional and responsive testing in an area that was extremely difficult to access...crawling under my house the day before he was scheduled for hip surgery!

Mark was very helpful and informative from the very beginning. He took the time to explain the process in which samples are taken and gave us a multitude of options to choose from. He breaks down all of the charges beforehand and let's you choose which services you would like. You know exactly what you're paying for with Mark. He provides a premium service that is catered to your inspection needs. I will be using him again. Thank you, Mark!

The best way to stop mold from growing on walls is to make sure the roof is properly ventilated with open soffit vents and a ridge vent and a mechanical power vent, make sure that no water is penetrating through the roof, basement or any other structural member, and to keep the humidity in the house below 50% with dehumidifiers and/or air conditioning.
The most common molds found in the New York area are cladosporium, ulocladium, basidiospores, ascospores, aspergillus/penicillium and stachybotrys. The latter two are more dangerous to humans while the first ones are only harmful to those persons with mold allergies.
There is no difference between the two. They are synonyms. The best way to get rid of mold is to hire a licensed mold assessor to first test it to make sure it is indeed mold. If it tests positive, then he will write a treatment protocol that will either explain how the homeowner or a licensed mold remediator should get rid of the mold.
Prior to a mold inspection, all windows and doors should be kept closed for a minimum of 12 hours except to come in and out of the house. This is required because air samples taken inside the house must be compared to a control sample taken outside as a baseline, which is what is naturally occurring at that time. It is also a good idea to have table or desk cleared for the mold assessor to set up a temporary “office.”
