Former resident returning again to visit friends here. MICE in the building. I would suggest that if you are considering this place for someone you care about then look very carefully. Instead of reading the fancy brochures and listening to the glowing praises by the lady paid to sell you, ask the residents instead. Ask them about the food and ask them about the service by the aides. Most of the workers have been here 1-2 years max, which should tell you something. The good ones get frustrated and leave. Also, ask to see the Franklin building. On the day I visited the hallway was freezing cold and fire doors were closed to conserve heat. I saw several little 90 year old ladies dressed in their outdoor winter coats and gloves trying to maneuver their wheelchairs and walkers through the doors going back to their rooms. I remember this being the case when I was there. The owner (quote taken from another review on this page) says " At Westchester Center, providing our residents with care in a warm and loving environment is our #1 priority! " Most of the residents I know would disagree. Very glad I'm out of there.

Our father, Edward J Yurus, was a resident of Westchester Center for Independent & Assisted Living for several years. Edward has passed and gone to heaven on November 15, 2020. We want to express our complete satisfaction and appreciation with your facility and staff. Dad was very happy at WCI&AL and was treated like royalty every day of his residency and we want to thank the entire staff for your hospitality and caring nature. You are truly what a facility of your purpose is intended to be and would be our choice if we had to do it all over again. A special thank you to the supervisory staff, aides, housekeeping staff, food services, maintenance, and pharmaceutical staff for assisting dad with all his needs. Dad had extremely poor eyesight and hearing and he was accommodated very well. Dad was treated like family by his co-residents and staff and was very comfortable and at home at Westchester Center for Independent & Assisted Living. God Bless you all! Hi Esther, Thank you for reaching out! We currently accept Medicaid only. We do not take HMOs.
They do have studio/single rooms but it depends on availability.
Not sure if they have an age requirement as long as the person has the insurance or social security benefits.
You can contact the Facility the number is 914 - 787-7400
Unfortunately not...meaning if there is a family pet that comes to vist, thats perfectly fine, the Residents love to see the pets...but if its a pet to live with the Resident, then the answer is no. I even bring my dog from time to time to visit with the Residents.
