Five Star has quality care. The staff is professional, kind, and competent. Both aides - Myrna and Glennys who took care of my friend and resident at Five Stars were nurturing, caring and pleasant to deal with. Nurse Tony from the third floor had a wonderful and skillful approached to my friend who loved him dearly. Teresa was so helpful and understanding to work with in her two roles as Business Office Manager and now Executive Director. She provided options that worked well for the good of my friend. Thank you Five Star for your care, kindness, understanding and professionalism. Anne Seline & Patrycja Wojtowicz

Five Star is truly a 5-star operation! My sister who has lived on the memory care floor for the past 4 years receives EXCELLENT care, support and services. Our family is very pleased with the services she receives and the kindness and compassion demonstrated by the staff there is phenomenal!

My parents lived at 5 Star for six years. I recommend it strongly. The facilities were kept in top notch condition, super clean and eating at the dining room was a very positive experience for my parents. There was a very nice social life at the facility as well. The food was diverse and good. Most importantly the staff was very attentive. Even as they navigated COVID they were communicative with family. Recently we had to move out of Five Star due to my parents' passing and Teresa was amazing in helping it to be a seamless process. Thank you Five Star.

On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank John Hunt and the entire staff at Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers for all they did for my mom and our family. Everyone there was extremely friendly,, helpful, responsive, caring and loving. From the greeters to the kitchen and restaurant staff to the repair team to the people who cleaned the apartments and the countless others that are to many to name. In the main dining room, the food and selection were quite good. I even asked for a recipe or two from their chef. The place is kept up beautifully and I think it is the best of its kind in the area. Thank you again for making my mom's last two years the best they could be. Morris Cohen Morris Cohen

We know this is a big change! It is a concern we often hear from seniors and their families. The good news is that there will be staff and fellow residents around who will be happy to help you learn your way around the community. Before long you will find yourself feeling right at home! We hope this information helps you or the senior you love feel more positive about the changes ahead. If you have a question we didn’t answer or if you would like to schedule an in-person visit, please call the Five Star Senior Living nearest you. Our staff will be happy to arrange a time that is convenient for you to join us for lunch and a personal tour!
Good question! Embarking on a new chapter in life doesn’t mean old friends have to be left behind. Assisted living communities offer a wide range of programs and events residents can invite guests to participate in. And they also offer transportation services so your dad can attend events in and around town with his old buddies. Fortunately, there are other ways your father can stay in touch. Social media channels like Facebook or a video chat service such as Skype are two easy avenues for staying connected.
This sometimes happen when it actually comes time to make the move. Your mom is probably anxious and a little uncertain. A late life transition like this isn’t easy to make. What might help is to get her involved in some of the events and activities at the new community now, instead of waiting until she actually moves in. Talk with the staff to see about helping her find a buddy with similar interests and hobbies that she can bond with during her visits. Becoming more familiar with the community and with a few fellow residents can help make the move feel a little less intimidating.
We hear this concern from seniors often. Sorting through and packing up a lifetime of memories and belongings can be overwhelming. One resource we like to share with families is a group of professionals called Senior Move Managers. They are experts at handling all of the details of a later life move. You can find one near your home by visiting the National Association of Senior Move Managers or Certified Relocation & Transition Specialist.
Yes we are actively hiring! You can find a list of our open positions and submit an application from the Careers page of our website.
Five Star Premier Residences of Yonkers is a private pay community.
