Marked as open on Google but it's closed. Edit: +1 star because this has been added to their website. That doesn't fix the fact that it says they are open on Google though. I'm sure the food is good!

We don't get to Savannah very often, but when we do we Love to eat at Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room! There's no place like it.

Drove 7 hours plus to eat there & they were closed for the month of September. Was so disappointed...

I’m sure the food MiGHT have been wonderful, but who knows?? The website said it was open from 11-2. BUT after walking from River Street to the restaurant we discovered it was closed until September 26. The closed sign was on a side door, not visible from the street, and NOT on their website. It would have been nice for someone to have taken the time to post that tidbit of information!

Yes. Sweet and unsweetened (iced) tea. Berry or peach cobbler, and banana pudding.
Check out river street inn. Great hotel. They will park your car for you. And with in walking distance of virtually everything
It cost $22 per person cash only. In order to sit together tell the guy who opens the door that you have a party at 12 and you all would like to sit together. He has always been accommodating to my group.
No, there is no menu at Mrs. Wilks , it is like going to a family dinner, there are plenty of offerings to please any taste, and they do ask if you have diatary needs, and attempt to meet them. It is a unique dining experience well worth going to no matter what your diet is!!!
Yes just one entry. No stairs
Nope. Not that I know of unless that's something they just started after the pandemic
Get there at 11 sharp. I do not think they take call in orders.
I don't work there but I'm pretty sure they will
Yes.
Mrs. Wilkes’ dining room did serve breakfast back in the 50s and 60s. I know because I ate breakfast there many times.
You would have to call them to find out for sure. We don't really know. Sorry not much help. Hope you get to go. It's a very nice place.
They are not open thanksgiving. Just called.
No they will not. It was a sign out that said the 26th
That's what the sign there said.
No
Yes we art together. Stood in line together... Even breathed the same air.... And survived... Lol
No reservations. Stand in line for dine in And take out
I don't know if they have one. They don't take reservations
$30 per person. Well worth it. Its cash only, but there's an ATM inside.
No take out right now. Sorry
They have take out but no doggy bags!
First come, first served..
No.
Place your order and they bring it out for you in a box, food was good.
Nothing is plated. Everything is put in bags or containers even if you take the food out to one of the sidewalk tables. Styrofoam plates are available for the asking.
S20 for lunch , drink included and 2 ppl can eat off 1 plate frfr😋
Thanks for asking! We will be open but only for takeout. Not sure yet when the dining room might open. We do have limited outdoor tables to eat takeout on. Thanks again please call or check out Facebook for the menu
Thanks for asking! Not yet. We are thinking of going back with takeout orders in the next few weeks. We will keep everyone posted on social media. Thanks again and best wishes!
They also have coffee.
Yes, it is a great experience! You will be seated with those you are standing in line with. When we were waiting we found out the guy next to us, happened to work for the same small school as I did just a few years apart many decades back. Weirdest coincidence between people living on opposites sides of the country that just happened to be waiting in the same line together. Now if either of you arent happy to stand in line for 2.5 hours... Then maybe this isnt for you:)
There was plenty of vegetables choices but whether they were made with meat stock or fat you would have to ask them
I'm not sure that there is a "slowest" line or day to get in. They aren't open that any hours, so there is always a line.
No. This isn't your best dining option as a vegetarian #travelformortals
You should ask how they prepare their dishes. Southern food is famous for using butter or animal fat when they cook their veggies.
No, but the wait is totally worth it and you end up talking to the people you wait in line with and you might be eating at the table with them which is cool.
Yes for sure. You have to stand in line outside sometimes for an hour though so make sure he or she will be comfortable.
No reservations. You will have to get in line for a seating. Best thing is to get on line between 10am and 1015am and just wait with a coffee in hand. You'll get in during first seating. It's first come, first serve and cash or check only.
I would call them.
$25 per person (tax included). Children under 10 are 1/2 price. Be mindful that it is cash only. Hope you enjoy the best Southern cooking in Savannah!
Amazing community restaurant. Love it closed in December, open between 11-2pm. Everything was great.
There are definitely vegetables like mashed potatoes, squash, corn, and other items that didn't have meat in them.
No reservations are taken. First come first serve. Get there early.
No.
Not sure how many tables exactly but there are 8-10 seats per table. Several large tables in the dining areas
They will seat at any table with an open seat. The best time to go is around 1 pm on a Monday or Tuesday. The line kind of dies down early on those days. Hope this helps.
Open Monday through Friday only Closed the entire month of January
Top 5 meals of my life, no joke!
It is also on Amazon.com
They close at 2 pm daily.
All you can eat. Family style. If you don't come with a whole table of friends you will most likely sit with strangers.
No sure advise you to check by calling them??
Its Family style dining, the entire menue is delivered to your table and its up to you to make your own choices. Typically the menue is heavily weighted to southern comfort food: chicken, turkey, ham, and beef. Sides are typical southern style. I suffer with a gout diet and was very comfortable with their menue. You can inquire as to the menue at the front door before you decide to eat there. It changes daily but the variety is limited to southern comfort food, cooked in traditional style with no accommodation for restricted diets, no individually prepared meals, no special requests.
A Savannah friend of mine has told me that he HAS done that, but it was a while ago and even then wasn't an "official" practice of the restaurant.
As I understand it...part of the charm of Mrs. Wilkes, is having to show up, on time and waiting in line. Making friends with the strangers in line beside you, and then dining with your new friends, family style. We changed our travel plans by an entire day to accommodate this quant custom.
I spoke with an employee who confirmed that they are not open during the month of January. I'm nosey, so I wanted to know how that works concerning paychecks. 😊 I couldn't take a month's vacation with no pay, lol.
Hello! I am not sure about this but it's best to get there 30 minutes or more before opening to wait in line for 1-2 hours to avoid not getting seated as the close time approaches! The food is fabulous.
We were there on a Tuesday. The food was WONDERFUL if you like country cooking and we all do. THERE was at least 20 bowls on the table with a different food in each bowl. Drinks food and desserts all are included in the price. It was about 20.00 I think but was worth every penny of it. If the bowls get empty they refill them. Great food and great service.
When I was there it was 1:59 pm and they just made the last person already in line the final table.
