No JR Watkins products. No breakfast. Customer service was terrible at check in. Attendant (who seemed like a Manager or Owner perhaps) was on the phone while checking me in, did not greet me upon walking in, did not explain any hotel attributes (because there are none I later realized) and did not even thank me after checking in. When I asked for water to fill up my bottle, front desk suggested I purchase an overpriced water bottle when clearly they have a fully functioning bar that probably had a sink. Location is questionable. Must have your room key to operate the elevator. Parking lot is enclosed around a gate to deter car theft but gate was left wide open. Room doors have peep hole covers. If you know you know why these features exist at this property. Not very comforting upon check in. Bed was comfortable but wouldn't stay here again. There is another Holiday Inn in Germantown not too far away that is much better that I would recommend. Do your research and read reviews. Perhaps this hotel could take some pointers from that other location.

Jamiesha at the front desk was able to upgrade my room and was very kind and welcoming. The suite was immense, bigger than any apartment I’ve ever rented. Everything was perfect ! The location is very convenient for travel to the Bill Morris Parkway and access to the 240. I will definitely plan on staying here next time I visit Memphis. The restaurant is closed right now, but there are dozens of places to eat nearby, try the Cookout Dog and peanut butter fudge shake from Cookout, right next door.

The king suite was without a doubt the best accommodation we have ever had in Memphis, and we properly use the term "enjoyed" to characterize our stay. It was far from perfect, however. Some maintenance issues (missing light bulb, freezer door not closing) that we pointed out right away and tagged with post-it notes inside the room were never addressed as promised by front desk staff, although the post-it note was removed from the lamp. There is no sign that the maintenance person who allegedly comes on duty at 7am ever entered the room. You would think that Holiday Inn would stock light bulbs. If not, why remove a dead bulb and create the safety hazard of an empty socket? Other issues include the kitchen sink having been plumbed with hot and cold water reversed from the red/blue indication, potentially another safety issue. The worst was that the bathroom lavatory drain was either clogged or stuck partially closed. By the end of our stay, the lavatory had progressively become disgustingly filthy. The janitors could not clean it properly given that rinse water would not drain. Of course it was clean upon check-in, which means that it is possible to clean it, hence abbreviated cleaning measures were used during our stay. Other housekeeping anomalies included wild variation in the combination of daily bath linens provided. Starting with two towel/washcloth sets and a shared hand towel plus a bathmat, successive days saw omissions and additions. There was a missing bathmat, then the next day two bathmats but no hand towel. Every day there was a different combination, which seems very odd for a Holiday Inn. We had to visit the front desk to correct critical shortages, as they could not be reached by phone (always a busy signal). As for amenities, no written information or instructions are provided in the room, and it took half an hour of fiddling with the tv remote control, followed by a visit to the front desk to learn that the "cable service" was "out." The outage continued until the last day of our stay. Our advice is to plan to screen mirror your personal device. The restaurant inside the hotel was always closed. The pool was "closed for cleaning" for an entire day, even though a visit to the pool in early evening showed it looking clean and pristine, with no signs of cleaning or maintenance in progress. The next day the pool was open, but that was too late for us to enjoy it. Unlike other places we have stayed, a 30 minute call to IT was needed to enable wireless connectivity, and staff indicated that this happens to many guests. A final annoyance was that every time we got In the car, I smelled cigarette smoke and could not figure out where it was coming from. During our stay, Wally--who has lung cancer--kept asking me, for the first time in 16 years, to get him cigarettes. Finally I realized that there is a smoking bench unfortunately placed right next to the hotel's front entrance. In spite of numerous flaws, a four star rating reflects high value per dollar compared to our experiences elsewhere in Memphis. We would stay here again but would avail the offer to change rooms in order to get a working lavatory drain. If missing light bulbs turn out to be a feature of this property, we'll downgrade to three stars because that is just not acceptable.

We had a good time at thus hotel. The room was nice and roomy, clean, and the bed was really comfortable. It looked like this hotel opened the day before we got there. It was in a nice quiet part of town. I would stay here again.
