There are backcountry walk in campsites. There is one at Race Brook Falls just south of Mt. Everett and a shelter just north of Mt. Everett. There's also a really nice campsite just to the west near Alander Mountain (in the adjacent Mt Washington State Forest.) But dispersed camping away from trails and water like they have in the Catskills and Adirondacks isn't allowed I don't think. You have to be in one of those designated areas.
