I found it offensive that the team on hand assumed my comment was racist. I retired in December and my boss and his boss were both African American. When I answered his question, I was actually remembering what a former Democratic Senator of New York, a former presidential candidate and First Lady, told the African American people they needed to do to make a difference and build better futures for them. I also was offended by that boys remark when I quoted former First Lady Laura Bush in her thinking regarding Stowe was not motivated by money, etc. He was insulting and told the group money was definitely a motivator for Stowe. Also, contrary to Abraham Lincoln's comment to her, the male guide responded with, and I quote, "He wasn't even there." It appeared to me there is more of a political agenda your tour organization than Harriett Beecher Stowe. Your response is in direct opposition of your organizations objective. You are clearly stating you only are inclusive etc. As long as one agrees with your viewpoint.

Great private tour with Breena and tour guide trainee!! My son Elijah and I had a nice history lesson. Tour was about 45 min. Breena was very knowledgeable about Harriet.

Could not understand the fast-talking, hand-waving boy tour guide. I resent that the tour was a propaganda routine, citing the brutality of police, and the laundry list of progressive talking points.

Hi there! Thank you for contacting the Stowe Center. No, Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Beecher and Foote ancestors arrived in this country in the 1630s, the wave of European colonization directly following the Mayflower’s journey. Not needed but the parking lot is limited. Space on the street less than 500 yards away is available.
