I've hiked shorter distances in Northern Ohio to find a better waterfall. This was a super tiny one that was PACKED full of people. The entire hike there was spent dodging people on the trail. The area near the falls was super steep on the edges so it was like human sardines trying to view the water and there's super tacky 'glamping' tents just across the river ruining the experience. For being in such a beautiful mountain range I can't even believe these falls were recommended. I came across better waterfalls in downtown Blue Ridge when a thunderstorm rolled through. Don't waster you time navigating here. You'll be very disappointed.

Tacky "glamping" tents next door soured the experience. Otherwise, nice shaded half mile hike to a beautiful two-drop (really just cascades) waterfall. Still worth the effort of the drive and hike. Just a guess but apparently the private land on the other side of the creek sold to a development company and they've built several large ugly bulging glamping tents right next to the waterfall. Still the busy trails were nice and well kept. Parking was crowded. Waterfall is beautiful though.

Went in May before it got too hot. The hike to the falls is relatively short, but worth the view. There is a decent incline to the falls, and further connected trail if you want to travel. The trail in some spots is a bit tight and will have portions that are not even on your feet, I would recommend hiking poles if you have any feet or knee issues. I was not personally a fan of the yurts but they are at least interesting to look.

This is one of the most amazing places in blue ridge. It is the perfect trail walk for kids of any age. Dogs are also allowed. During winter it might get cold but in summer it is a beautiful place to visit and get some refreshing experience in the waterfalls.

No. It is free. Trailhead is on a dirt road and you have to park on the side of the road. Trail is uphill, but falls are pretty. You can continue your hike past the falls for a.nice.walk in the woods on the Benton Mackaye to Stanley Gap trail. Alltrails site has great info. 😁
Yes you drive a little ways on a gravel road
Google the location. It will take you down a paved road that turns into a gravel road. There is a small parking area where you'll start the trail. I'm 79 & made it ok. It's worth the trek
I agree with Robert small area with a few seats. We went early and had the place to ourselves but I am sure it gets busy being such a mild hike.
We took Rock Creek Rd out of Cherry log. Stanley Creek may be better but was way out of the way for us. Rock Creek road is gravel and can be narrow.
It's about a mile each way moderate difficulty, if necessary plenty of places to stop and catch your breath and enjoy the scenery.
A little steep on some of the switchbacks. The trail is bare clay many places and very slippery when wet, so nonslip soles are a must.
