Different climate zones, lots of hard to find botanical species. Not the largest place but very interesting. Remember to visit the top of the rainforest!

From their website: Private Functions The U.S. Botanic Garden facilities are not available for rental for weddings or other private functions. Policies governing Congressionally sponsored events are established by the Joint Committee on the Library. For more detailed information, please contact Laura Anthony.
Hi Elizabeth, there are designated accessible parking spaces on Maryland Ave SW. All parts of the Garden -- Conservatory and outdoor gardens are accessible. Our overhead jungle canopy in the Conservatory is accessible by elevator. For more information about specific accessible routes through the Conservatory and outdoor gardens, please inquire at the visitor information desk upon arrival. Also, the Garden loans wheelchairs to our visitors as a courtesy on a first-come, first-serve basis. A valid driver's license or government-issued picture identification card is needed to borrow a wheelchair.
It's free!!
And !
Hi Ambreen, like other museums on the National Mall, there is not parking directly at the Garden. However, there is street parking available nearby (first-come, first served) as well as multiple parking garages within just a few blocks. We suggest public transit -- we are a short walk from the Federal Center SW metro station, and multiple busses stop right by the Garden. More info at www.USBG.gov/Visit
Most of the gardens are in a controlled green house type building. So no BBQs or grilling would be allowed
We went on a cool rainy day. And we found it to be quite comfortable inside. It was surprisingly a nice place to spend a rainy day in DC
There is air conditioning in the lobby, East and West Galleries, and the rear lobby in the Conservatory. The other rooms have varying climates according to the plant collections of that room. There is seating in the gallery space to rest and cool down.
We welcome service dogs that are trained to work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability in all areas of the garden unless the dog poses a direct threat, is not housebroken or is not under the control. Pets are not allowed on USBG grounds.
It's under National Park Services (i think) and so I think they will be glad to accommodate portable easel.
Not good. You can get lucky, but it's only 2 blocks walking from federal center SW metro Station.

There's street parking nearby. You just have to be patient and wait for a spot to be available.
No it's only the outside that's open right now.
I asked the same. Smithsonium site indicated it was
Hi Walah O., as of 7/5/2021 all outdoor gardens are currently open. The Conservatory and public restrooms remain closed, due to the closure of the U.S. Capitol campus. Please monitor www.USBG.gov for updates on operating status.
No admission fee. The great part about a Washington DC visit is most of the attractions are free including the Smithsonian Musuems & Galleries. All of the monuments are free.
I think the website would be the best place to find those answers.
10 am-5 pm open all year long, including holidays. I copied this from their website: Hours and Location The Conservatory is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, including all weekends and holidays. There are extended hours for some programs, please check the Programs and Events page for details. The Conservatory is located at 100 Maryland Ave SW, Washington, DC 20001. The National Garden is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, including all weekends and holidays. It is adjacent to the Conservatory, with entrances from Independence Avenue, from Maryland Avenue (at 3rd Street) and from the Conservatory Terrace. The National Garden has extended evening hours staying open until 7 p.m. from Memorial Day until Labor Day. Bartholdi Park is open from dawn to dusk, daily, including all weekends and holidays. It is located across Independence Avenue from the Conservatory, with access from any of the three bordering streets - Independence Avenue, Washington Avenue or First Street.

Capital South or Federal Center SW on orange/blue/silver lines are the closest to the Botanical Gardens. L'Enfant Plaza and Archives on yelliw/green lines are close, too. Assuming you will be coming in on yelloe/green line or switching at Metro Station or Gallery Place if coming in on the red line. The Botanical Gardens building is across from the south side of the US capital. There's a great photo op of the Capital from the botanical garden. Enjoy your visit!
It's a Smithsonian Museum so it is free entry. However, they do have special events which may require paid ticket entry. Check the website.
Holidays you can park free in DC meters
Yes
Free
All Smithsonian museums are free. If there is a museum that requires a ticket, it's just for crowd control and is at no cost. Other Federal/Government facilities like the Garden, Arboretum, or Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP requires ticket) are also free.
Yes
I believe it's the Red line but not positive.
We do have a few plants in our collection being trained in bonsai style -- one is currently on display in our "Art of Horticulture" exhibit in South Transition in the Conservatory, but the large bonsai collection in this area is at the U.S. National Arboretum.
If you would like to bring lunch during your visit to the Garden, you may eat at the many benches and tables/chairs throughout the Garden. Trashcans and recycling bins are distributed throughout the campus. There is no food and drink for sale at the Garden, but there is a water fountain with a bottle-refilling spout. There are multiple restaurants and cafes within a few blocks of the Garden.
The estimate sounds good but I would allow more time to experience the gardens both indoor and out.
It's free
There are benches inside but no indoor courtyard. A better rainy day visit would be the national portrait galley which has a cafe and lovely courtyard
No scooters, I noticed handicapped carts, but I'm not sure that the gardens offered them
Good afternoon Shatark, there is no locker facility at our location. You can bring luggage and strollers and such with you. We do ask you keep them in your possession throughout your visit -- there is no bag check / coat check.
There are many parking garages in the area. I suggest using an app called spot hero to find one, you can pay for parking right in the app, and avoid all the hassle of paying at the garage. The first time you use the app you get half off.
Weddings are not allowed at the U.S. Botanic Garden.
Yes
No sorry they don't.......but now I wish they did that flower is awesome!!
Yh towards back of greenhouse
Yes weekends and national holidays all street paid parking are free.
Don't see why not. There were so many taking photos while we were there last week. I would think as long as you don't have an entourage and block others from seeing the plants. Some of the paths are a bit narrow, too.
Service animals only.
I believe they do, but I would suggest checking their websites for events where they give seeds away. We got some great beans last yeay.
Hi Eric, personal photography is allowed throughout the campus. Professional and posed photography is not allowed.
The area accessed by the elevator is optional, not required. Everything you need to see is at ground level.
I was there day after Thanksgiving. There was a gigantic line to see "trains" and "50 state roadside attractions". I got there before place opened and line was already blocks long. No line to get into regular botanical garden exhibits, however.
Don't count on street parking, though there are a small #of spaces suuuper close to the Botanic garden.
Parking can be tricky. .remember the Garden is near the US Capitol so often during the week there are additional restrictions. .
no. there are no picnic area inside the facility. it is an indoor botanical garden. there are seating right outside the building where you can eat I guess.
