This is a good place to go if you want to avoid super long lines and talk to someone one on one. The security guards and older staff are pretty helpful and give good advice when it comes to navigating their new protocol in response to COVID-19. However, some of newer staff are rude, condescending, and disrespectful for no reason. I understand that dealing with human services is sensitive and can create high pressure environment. However, given that the automated option provided are usually inoperable and certainty unhelpful, the staff should hold more grace for visitors simply looking for answers. I’ve experienced and witnessed visitors speaking calmly and politely and met with so much vitriol and impatience. Actions to improve these portals and websites, created to reduce direct communication with visitors and applicants, seem to be moving slow or are nonexistent. I’m sure a lot of us would rather have lifestyles where all of our needs are met, but in the meantime, it would behoove DHS to treat us like humans, adult humans at that. Most are just trying to eat and have places to rest our heads at the end of the day. Let’s be kind, please :)

The employees working from home, shouldn't be. Loud TV's and children in the background. They get paid to transfer calls all day. UPDATE your systems.

They claim no one can answer, but that is a lie. They are trained that way. They have to service the customers inside because it is so many that come in daily, they are overloaded.

Hey!!! I know you!!! Ms.Washington!!!😄
Same day if its M-F cost $5. You have 5 times, if it's a 6th time they will not issue you a new one you will have to find it & they reactivate it.
Go into your local office speak to someone, you need to reapply or recertify.
You have to go into the DC DHS and update your income. For the letter you need to go in and close your case. They will only give you something with a date stamp on it. Once you go into VA DHS office they will see that your case is school in the system
Birth cert, social, shot record
