Limekiln is ok....I've definitely stayed in better state campgrounds ...there is only one shower for the whole campground and its at the other end of the park..practically have to drive to the other end of the park to take a shower.. the campsites wernt really clean themselves and the bathrooms weren't well kept at least by our campsite

Great campground! Close to town but far enough away you can't hear the highway like some other places close by....always worth the money! Showers are great. Swimming is great and the boat launch never fails!!!

I thought in general, the lake was great very clean. The staff there were very friendly and professional. The camp sites are are great if you were tenting however camping trailers are tight, yes there are bigger for them, I believe it should better stated in when making a reservation. First time there, planning better for our next visit.

It was our first camping trip and we were hyped up for it! We arrived excited set up camp with no regards to the families beside either side of us. Little did we know both those families were going to get so wasted we wouldn’t get a good nights sleep. We had no one to call to have someone come up and quiet them down, and when we did go over to ask if they could quiet down they laughed and got louder. It was until midnight after us driving around trying to find someone did we find the sweetest groundskeeper. He asked them to shush but we barely had a nights sleep. I felt horrible for the couple across from us who had a 3 month old and couldn’t get to sleep from the loud noise. If you’re expecting a quiet camp to get away and relax in nature, then this is not the place. Families everywhere with some who don’t even quiet themselves or their children down after 10pm. No one enforcing the rules. I will give it three stars because each lot was pretty private and the groundskeeper was sweet and had us moved. Ultimately, the bad experience ruined our outlook on camping. However, the camp was quite clean.

Look at the website. Limekiln Lake State Park is not a free campground. It has a day use fee and campsite fees. Limekiln does not have any hookups or electric sites. It is pretty primitive. There are restrooms throughout the park and one shower house. Most people use generators with their rv's. People use gas grills, coleman stoves etc to cook with.
It's a great size lake with a beautiful view and great for fishing and canoes
Definitely worth it. I saw nice a few mice at night, and a ton of chipmunks during daylight. Use the bear box for food storage, and don't leave food out or in your tent and you'll be fine. I was there for 7 nights and had no issues. Happy camping!
Hi Linda! Usually you can only book 8 months out. If it won't let you on the site that may be why.
You can book a site up to 48hrs before arrival they do not allow walk ins and you do not have to plan your trip 8 months out they just allow you to reserve a site 8 months ahead of time!
I've never seen a moose in limekiln
A few tears ago we saw 45 bears in 10 days.... probably the same 6 bears over and over. The past few years none. You are allowed to hunt there now in season
Yes kayaks canoes and rowboats are available for daily rental. Fairly cheap as well
Didn't see any this weekend at Limekiln, but did have one cross the road on me in Old Forge
No service in campground but you can pick up service out on the lake near the lakefront homes. You could also go into inlet and pick up wifi and the town hall or coffee shop.
