There was a family/group at site 52 had a guest/truck arrived at 1 am beaming headlight to tents across while engine running in the middle of the road until 2 am on July 16th night (17th am). Too tired to get out of the tent to talk to these folks to shut up and go to sleep & quiet per the camping rules. I think there should be an officer mitigate such terrible campers in this place. It's almost impossible to get summer camping spots here at Orchard Hill Loop campsite. This site is away from Sir Francis Drake (than Creekside Loop), so there's less car noises at night. The loop is a bit confusing to follow and it's one-way. If your site is near 30 or 29, you need to drive all the way around the entire loop to exit towards to Cross Marin Trail. Last 2 years, we noticed non-camping type folks are camping here and not quite following (not knowing) the informal rule of being courteous campers to other visitors. These camp sites are very close to each other and if you snore loudly at night, next site's campers won't get any sleep at night. No firewoods for sale. Must bring in your own. There were spigot for water near campsites. Racoons and chipmunks are notorious here. You can't leave food unattended for 10 seconds. If you look away from your bag of food on the table or next to the tent, it will be quickly grabbed or rummaged through. Always lock food in a container with a latch or plan to lose them all. Too many to list the mistakes SPT’s inexperienced campers make. No hammock is allowed as well as all other state parks in CA. The most campsites have 2-car parking spaces. If your vehicle is longer than 18', you must make a reservation that's designed for a trailer or camper vans. A very long trailer is difficult to drive through the circular narrow loop which is a one way road to travel.

Stayed here for one night. What a nice campground, surrounded by the redwoods!

Compact campground on hillside has limited level ground. Many sites are stepped so picnic table and fire ring are down from parking. Our 24 foot camper feels just barely small enough so larger rigs could be challenging in some campsites. …

Very pretty but over crowded for me. we had spot 48 and the fire pit for 49 WAS 8feet from our trailer. We heard talking til late and the snoring kept me awake.they have some better spots but it is crowded.

This campsite gets reserved up most of the time. Though the chances of available campsites increases late in the year, you really do need a reservation to guarantee yourself a site. Reservecalifornia.com Beautiful place!
