Great place to stay. Love the view and fresh air. Comfortable bed and pillows. We had a fireplace, but didn't use it. Loved the coolness after the heat of the valley. Good breakfast served to our room. Great way to start the day. Easy walk on private path to the beach. Good restaurants in town within walking distance.

Outstanding location! Professional and courteous staff with an amazing breakfast each morning. Of course, Mendocino is lovely, but Eric and Elaine and the Staff of Alegria were just wonderful. They really pay attention to the small details and make you feel welcome. We will absolutely go again and we recommend it to anyone looking for a private, quiet, romantic get away! On the morning we prepared to go home, our car wouldn't start. Eric and Elaine's son (sorry I forgot his name!) gave us a jump without any hesitation. That kind of service isn't common these days.

The gardens and location of Alegria were perfect! We also loved the gourmet breakfasts each morning. We stayed in the Cove Cottage. The old wooden windows did not all close properly, which made the room a but drafty. And the bathroom facilities were RV-sized, so just be prepared for that. Also, the wifi is only in the main lodge and does not extend to the cottages.

This is our favorite place to stay in Mendocino, hands down! This time we were lucky enough to stay at Cove Cottage as it is popular. Well worth it for the views, the stars at night and the eucalyptus tree outside. Just beautiful. Oh! And the breakfast and lemon bars are fantabulous, too! For outright ocean views book Garden Cottage, Sea Breeze and Pacific suite. Highly recommended!
