I entered a negative review earlier but was able to resolve the matter with the law firm. Google review should delete my old review, not this one.

Sadly, I had a truly bad experience with this law firm. She came well referred and I didn't bother to do my due diligence that I normally would have done. It was a $18,500+ mistake on my part. Mrs. Schmidt had a hard time listening to me, for a long time didn't reply to emails, and more importantly her legal strategy was flawed and the court didn't find her argument very credible. A big reason for that is that she did not produce to the court or to opposing counsel the supporting information that I took the time to document and redact, and/or did not produce it on a timely manner. I wish she would have done a better job listening and guiding her staff to do what was needed on time. All of her office staff were polite. She too was polite, just not as competent as I hoped for and relied upon. I can't recommend her services to anyone.

Everyone in this practice is so nice and helpful. They helped me through a very difficult time in my life. I could not have gotten through this situation without their help and support. I highly recommend them.

This lawyer is expensive and does not deliver. I have been through two court situations where she did not present items needed by the court to defend me. Her work has damaged my relationship with my daughter for years, and I still do not see my daughter. This lawyer is a true danger to your family. Do not take any recommendations for a Special Master - her recommendation never returned my calls for a year and has caused the loss of my little girl. It has been a long time, but I still need to report this lawyer to the Utah Bar. Also watch her billing, she charged me for work that was never executed - match your phone bills against her charges to start with -

Family law usually involves marriage and children. Family law attorneys can assist you with a divorce by ensuring that you get what’s fair, including spousal support and/or alimony. Family law attorneys deal with issues regarding children, specifically in regards to custody arrangements and child support but can also assist with adoption, guardianship, state child protection, domestic violence, and restraining orders against adults.
Essentially, a retainer is payment in advance. A lawyer will usually offer you a retainer agreement after a successful consultation. As a client, it is your right to ask your lawyer for clarification in case you cannot understand the terms in the agreement. The retainer document must contain all the legal work that must be carried out in your case. It should clearly reflect the fees you need to pay as well as the manner and schedule of your payment.
First, gather key documents. Personal and shared financial records, mortgage papers, property records, taxes, receipts, and anything else you have access to. Second, save up funds. Finances become a contentious issue during and after a divorce, so make sure you have enough to cover expenses. Third, sever financial dependence. Take swift action to cut as many financial ties to your spouse as possible. Fourth, monitor your health. Divorces are stressful, so make sure to prioritize your mental and physical health. Fifth, hire a great divorce lawyer.
First, make sure the attorney specializes in divorce, rather than having experience mainly in another area and taking one divorce case per year. Second, meet your divorce attorney in person before making the final hiring decision. You want to feel comfortable with this person. Third, check out the office space. Make sure the style appeals to you. Look for warning signs like clutter, stacks of papers, and obvious dirt and disarray. Fourth, read the fine print. Make sure the scope of services the attorney will provide is clearly defined and understood by both you and your attorney.
The courts will decide child custody and visitation based on the best interests of the child. But what are the things that are considered when determining the best interests of the child? There are several factors that are considered, they include but are not limited to: the children's ages, wishes of the parents, mental health of the parents, the parents' willingness to work together, and more.
Immigration lawyers are trained in immigration law. Most people, especially foreign citizens, are not educated in immigration paperwork filing and petition procedures. To give yourself the best chance of winning your case or filing for citizenship status correctly, the best time to hire an immigration attorney is anytime you have a legal issue involving immigration. As early as possible is when you should hire an immigration attorney.
