This is a really cool place to visit. There's nearby parking if needed, otherwise it's an easy walk in a nice part of town. The audio tour is very informative, you can see the main highlights in an hour or so or spend most of the day here. There's a lot to see, and plenty of extra audio segments outside of the main tour. The staff is friendly and the grounds are well kept. Highly recommended place to visit as a tourist. You can always see the halloween show in October during the evenings as well!

My adult son and took a tour for approximately 2 - 2.5 hours. It’s a great tour that took us back to history providing an overview of the place and the lives of the prisoners. We were taken to various cell blocks and departments guided via audio they offered us during entry. Some of the notable areas of the tour include kitchen, baseball field , death row, the hole , hospital row , Al Capone’s cell, the watch tower. Moreover, the structure itself is very interesting. The center of the penitentiary radiates 7cell blocks from where you can explore various blocks and come back to the center again. An informative trip that was worth every penny! I would suggest paid parking. It’s very close to the penitentiary. We didn’t go that route. It was a nightmare.

Really enjoyed the experience. Would definitely recommend an hour fun thing to do with someone

If you buy online the tickets are 14 for both the guide led tour and the audio tour. If you buy tickets at the door they are 16.
It is about 10 or 15 per person and the tour can be self guided. You can choose to wear headphones for an audio tour or not. I went on my own and found it very interesting. Spent a few hours in it.
I didn't ask about records. Alot of stuff was lost during the 25 years it was close. If you contact the prison I'm sure they will point you in the right direction
Yes you can, the natural light inside the penitentiary is stunning, you are going to capture amazing pictures.
Whatever day fits your schedule The tickets are timed for entry so it's never to bad
It is open every day from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm
There is a parking lot right accros the street
Not unless it's a service dog, I believe.
No, but they are open some nights which is a new perspective on the penitentiary. Showing some cool film shorts as well.
No it was closed 😥
no
$10 for students and children ages 7-12. When purchasing at the door, admission is $16, $14, and $12, respectively. (Not recommended for children under the age of seven.)admission is $14 for adults,
There's a parking lot next to the penitentiary. You have to pay but there's also street parking.
Are you thinking Devil's Alley Bar &Grill? 1907 Chestnut St, Philadelphia, PA 19103, USA
Yes, just careful the ground isn't level all around
It's a great stop when in Philly. I would say a 7 or 8 year old should be old enough to retain the information.
No, I think they only have audio in English
Yes
No, the audio tour is only in English. It is narrated by actor Steve Buscemi.
Approximately 1.5-2 hours. Be mindful that it gets hot inside, so take plenty of water. (Grab a brochure to fan yourself!) There is an air conditioned room for those that need a break.
I went with someone who used to work there. They told us different stories of their experiences. I wouldnt expect to notice anything while you're there though if thats what you werr hoping for.
There is only one price. The audio tour is free with the prize of admission.
Yes also they are a haunted house beginning in October which is very popular and put together very well if you like scary stuff it is for you
