Yes! There are actual homes with residents as well as small shops.
It is the oldest alley which is still in use i.e people still reside in elfreths alley. I believe it has been inhabited from 1700's

Hello, There are not many people on weekends like the week. The street is not very touristy and quiet, you have time to contemplate the houses, in good weather of course.
There is public parking down near the Pier... You are in walking distance
Alfred's alley is the oldest block in America under continuous use the houses were built in the 1700sr
