They are working with some animals now to have then used to being around people again. The plan as of a week ago was to have them ready by mid October. The actual holiday may be closed so I would give them a quick call.

I volunteer there. It has around 30 exhibits. Animals ranging from cougars to wolves to foxes and otters and ponies and goats too. Even has 2 black bears and a huge vulture.

No military discount is listed on the website but they do have discounts on certain holidays I believe.

No peacocks or other flying birds. They had to be relocated a few years ago due to Bird Flu. Any facilities that were unable to secure them from contact from birds flying into the zoo had to remove them. If they come in contact with other non-zoo birds they could contract and spread bird flu. There are chickens that are kept in a coop so protected. Also ducks and geese fly in and out daily so there is plenty of other birds to see. Unfortunately peacocks at a zoo roaming free is a thing of the past 😥

They do them a few times a year, but they aren't the same every year. The last one in 2017 is Aug. 26th.
