Awesome one mile long sandy beach. About 25 minutes from Cleveland or 40 minutes from Geneva-on-the-lake. Worth the ride! My favorite northeastern Ohio beach!

Beautiful park right next to Lake Eerie! I can definitely tell why it was ranked one of the best beaches in Ohio as it was definitely a great place to enjoy some time out with friends or family! I highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area!

I had no idea Ohio had this big beach! And the surrounding park was delightful as well... plenty of parking, generous number of bathrooms, lighthouse.

Nice place to visit... Beach is more gravel then sand. Scenery is pretty.

Ohio's beach guard site and USGS's newscast site both provide beach water quality info. Headlands state park has had good water quality as of late. The last advisory was on 7/7/18. Keep in mind that today's data is not available yet. It should be posted by noon.
Yes, it is open. Lots of sea glass to be found!!! Enjoy
Yes, just not on the beach. Geneva State Park has a dog area on the west end of the beach.
Yes! Its free to swim. There are tons of rock on this beach especially closer to the water, so water shoes are recommended. Fun for rock hunting. Just north of Headlands beach is Fairport Harbor beach which costs $3 to park but the beach is free to swim as well. In my opinion, Fairport is better for swimming, the sand is so much better with few rocks, and the parking is close to the sand. Fairport also has a playground for kids. We had fun at both beaches though!
Yes, within a 10 mile radius. Expedia.com or Hotels.com
Yes you can, and they also have picnic tables. I'm not sure if they can be reserved. 1st come basis.
Yes, plenty of grills and picnic tables, many in the shade.
For a shower
there is a beach on the inside of the breakwall that i think is pet friendly. park as close to the NE corner of the park, walk east towards lighthouse. its on your right halfway down
No
Dogs not allowed on Headlands beach, but leashed are okay on footpath. Dog designated area at Fairport Harbor, east end only.
It was a sign there I'm pretty sure that said no floaties devices but I do not know if they enforce it or not
Could be erosion control 🤔
Pets are not allowed on the beach but are allowed on the walking path
It closes half an hour after sunset, so unfortunately no.
We went on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon. Although it was busy, it's such a large beach, we didn't feel crowded
They have semi-recently built a wheelchair accessible boardwalk that will take you from the parkinglot all the way down to a small shaded pavillion right on the beach. It's a beautiful boardwalk too! It's located on the far east end. Park in the farthest east parkinglot.
I have done it and have seen others do it too.
Beaches are always flooded :p! Aside from Lake Erie being high, I cannot imagine it is high enough that there is no beach. You should still be able to enjoy Headlands.
It's open but I'm not aure about swimming.
yes
Yes
No. Dogs are not permitted on the beach. Only on specific walkways. I have personally received a $280 fine for this. 1/5 do not recommend.
To my understanding I do believe it is in some areas.
Nope, sorry!
No
I have seen leashed dogs on the multi purpose trail with their owners. But I have never seen a dog on the beach.
The water quality wasn't too bad. Better then most places. & the bottom is sandy but also really Rocky. So definitely recommend water shoes or sandals.
Some of the lake metro parks offer camping options locally. But they would not be within walking distance of the beach.
No cost unless you buy refreshments. No admission or parking fee.
Technically you probably can if you use the parking for 24 hour fishing access
