We had a really great time at the Sundial Bridge. Walking on the river walk, the Turtle Bay Museum and checking out the bridge which is very cool. The Sacramento River has great trails with wildlife all around. The trail near the bridge includes a beautiful garden with educational stops for everyone. The Turtle Bay Museum and it's grounds were fun for all of us, including my fifteen year old daughter. She interacted with birds in the Parrot House and butterflies, and zipped on the zip-line in the playground. I'm sure her favorite part was the butterflies though, as we spent well over an hour in the butterfly house. In the museum there was a hand on educational room that has really fun activities about prehistoric flying reptiles, Pterosaurs. A whole room displaying replicas of the items discovered in King Tutankhamun. Pretty fascinating. There is a cafe that is currently being remodeled but Mosaic Restaurant was open. If you are unfamiliar with reading it's very hot in the summer months and stays pretty warm until October. I recommend sunblock and if your heat sensitive the indoor part of the museum and Mosaic restaurants during the summer. Otherwise visit early or in the evening I know they open at 9:00 a.m. the bridge and trails are always open but not all of the grounds.

Love this beautiful pedestrian bridge that goes over the Sacramento River. It is in a location that connects trails, art, nature, and community within Redding. It is kept clean and feels safe to explore whether on foot or bike.

Visited the city over a weekend. Beautiful view of the Redding sunset! Very clean and calm environment. The electric scooters were all dead or on low battery according to the app, so that was kinda of a bummer. Overall though it’s a cool spot :)

Had a great time here on a beautiful sunny day. The bridge is beautiful and the park here is a lovely walk by the river. We will be back. Nice for a short jaunt on a road trip.

The park and museum close. The bridge itself stays open 24-7.
AWESOME QUESTION!!! answer is YES !!! today it will actually be completely accurate, because its solstice .. everyother day it works approximately (within25-35min) ...cool stuff , awesome place to checkout , highly recommended the botanical gardens as well , make a day of it ..
They did a rainbow lighting for sexual minority
Bridge entrance is free, however the botanical gardens has a required donation box of 5 dollars a person, and the turtle bay section does have a charge as well, either for day use up to a year pass
The bridge is in the center of Redding hit Google Maps and you can find it or if you're driving it's just off the highway you can't miss it either way
There is no charge to visit the bridge.
Because it's too big. Had the dial arm been smaller it would have been able to track more. But to make the bridge full suspension over the Sac River, the arm had to be high enough to hold the suspension cables.
Scooter are a 3rd party amenity. Companies like Bird rent their scooter out the general public. A 35 minute ride cost me about 15 dollars.
They have Italian ice at the entrance to the botanical garden, they are great!
Today, Sunday 10/25, gift shop was open at 4pm. Sweatshirts 50.00 to 65.00.
Sundial bridge is free. There is a restaurant and a store for souvenirs also!
Yes you can as long as watch out for the pedestrians walking.
Call the turtle bay place.
The bridge it's self is in full sun from sun up till sun down. So if you want shade, then either pre-dawn or post sunset are your options. There is no " non-sun" time for the bridge.
About 500 feet. ?
It gets pink lighting one night in October in our community health awareness day dedicated to breast cancer detection and education.
It is closed upstream of the Deiselhorst and Lake Redding Bridges until further notice.
Yes, there are shopping centers close by with lots of food places.
