I just dropped off some dog food my dog wouldn't eat.

How does the shelter determine who is the “best” person to adopt the animal? Twice now I have put in an application for two different pets and have collectively waited over two months for a response. None ever came. I finally went in person to check on my application status and they initially couldn’t find my app. When it was finally found, I was told that there was absolutely nothing wrong with my application but a better applicant was granted adoption. Both times. Again. Who determines the best candidate and what criteria must one meet? Are there home visits, interviews, or credit checks? I kept asking and never received an answer only that “someone else does it”. This is an unfair and uncouth practice. Unfortunately it’s the animals that will suffer for the disorganized practices of the leaders. Just very disappointing.

As soon as we walked in the door I was greeted with a frown from a lady who didn’t seem interested in doing her job. We found a kitten we wanted to take home, i gave a description of the cat and the name that was on the kennel it was in. The woman I spoke with acted as if I was going to take the kitten home and feed it to the neighbors dog. After filling out the application I asked several questions of which all of I received very confusing answers to. We followed up yesterday to see the little kitty again and check on our application, greeted by no one, helped by no one. I called today to check of the status of our application and long story short the kitten we were trying to adopt was put in the wrong cage and had already been adopted when we got to the shelter today. Worst experience ever. 0 of 0 stars

I'm experiencing the same thing as all the other reviews with the application process. I applied 3 weeks ago and I've been following up every week on email or social media (since they keep posting the dog I am interested in giving a home, stating he is still available for adoption). They either don't respond or they kept giving a generic response of "a decision has not been made." I'm more sad for the pup that he is sitting in the shelter for over a month due to long application or possible discriminations with applicants.

Always check their site or Petfinder! I'm sure they get little ones in often!
I would be happy to take her, but i'm fairly certain that they also take pitbulls.
They have kittens in and out (getting adopted) all the time
Anytime during our business hours of 12 to 5pm Tuesday-Sunday :)
Hello Pebbles We only accept check or cash and if you decide to pay cash it would have to be the exact amount. We do not have a way to give any change back. Also we do not do the same day adoption.
Yes, but it may depend on the circumstances. Email the shelter. They will help if they can.
They do take cats.
No Ma'am. Moore Humane Society is a private, nonprofit animal welfare organization incorporated in 1966. We are the founders of animal welfare in the Sandhills. Moore Humane Society operates the only privately funded, state licensed, animal shelter in Moore County and practices "no-kill" philosophies. We are not part of Moore County government or Animal Control. We receive no government support of any kind or funding from any other organization. Private donations are our only source of income.
Petfinder or their website
They have lots of kittens right now. Some at the shelter, younger ones in foster until old enough for adoption.Today is open house, you should go by and visit.
They aren't a groomer ma'am. This is a no-kill animal shelter
Yes. From their website: "Moore Humane Society is a private, nonprofit rescue organization incorporated in 1966. We are the founders of animal welfare in the Sandhills and we operate the only privately funded, state licensed “no-kill” animal shelter in Moore County." https://moorehumane.org/our-mission/
