Park is very clean, but seems to be underfunded. Never seen staff on hand. Road noise is significant and unfortunately parkgoers are incredibly inconsiderate in the parking lot with music loud enough to be heard all across the preserve - so you can forget hearing any wildlife. Bonus is there’s benches and trail maps, and if you’re lucky you’ll spot some smaller creatures snacking on the foliage.

Wow, great place. I've been to a lot of parks & this particular one is one oc the best I've seen ever. Public bathrooms fairly clean & lots of parking. Fishing everywhere & lots of species to catch. Everyone was super friendly too!

Good morning! Our Native Plant Sale is open year-round during the Education Center business hours, which are Thursday-Monday, 9 am to 5 pm. We hope to see you soon!
Its really a walking place. Drive in and park your car then kayak or walk the trails
Hi Scott, Electric-assist bicycles/e-bikes are defined in Florida Statute as bicycles. They are therefore permitted for use on Florida state trails and on trails designated as multi-use or specifically intended for bicycles within Florida's state parks. If a trail is designated for pedestrians or equestrians only, you may not ride a bicycle or e-bike on that trail. There may be posted speed limits on any given trail. Bicycles and e-bikes may also be used on paved public access roads within Florida's state parks. Motorized recreational scooters are not permitted for use on state trails. Within Florida State Parks, you may ride your e-scooter on paved public access roads but not on sidewalks, boardwalks or trails.
Hi Gail! We typically recommend a wider-tire bicycle. The trails are made up of natural soil - the occasional tree root or other natural obstacle is to be expected, along with intermittent muddy areas and puddles. The further north in the park you travel (i.e. closer to the blue trail), the more loose, sugar sand you will encounter.
Hi Maureen! Yes, our trails are marked with blazes. They are color coded (White trail is marked with white blazes, blue trail is marked with blue blazes). Blazes are paint marks on trees or posts. Blazes are close enough together that when standing at one blaze, you should be able to see the next, so it is easy to stay on trail.
Hi Steven, the Savannas Preserve State Park does not have a campground. Other people are confusing our property with other local parks. Please do not provide information on this page about other organizations. This page is for the Savannas Preserve State Park located on Walton Road in Port St Lucie only. Thank you!
Good Afternoon! The trails are all natural terrain meaning they are dirt with tree roots, branches and patches of grass. Most of the trails are not ideal for strollers. We do have a short sidewalk that leads from our main parking lot out to the marsh. And the Canoe Launch Road at our main entrance is a very compacted dirt that you should be able to take the stroller down. Round-trip, that road offers you about 1.5 miles worth of walking. The road is open to vehicle traffic so please use caution. Thank you!
Good Afternoon! We have more than 17 miles of trails. The main trail (White Trail) is 11 miles long, one-way. On the north end of the park (north of Walton Rd.) there are numerous other trails that loop off of the White Trail. There is the Yellow (approx. 1 mile), Red (Approx. 1 mile) and the Blue (Approx. 2 miles). By the Education Center, there are is an additional mile of trails. This is just the main part of our park. We also have the Hawk's Bluff Trail (Approx. 1 mile) and numerous trail at Miller Property (Approx. 2 miles). You can visit our non-profit's website for some additional information and printable maps! https://www.friendsofsavannas.org/
Good Afternoon Ezequiel, we do not have any designated swimming areas in our park. You want to consider visiting Fort Pierce Inlet State Park just north of us!
There is no dumpster at Savannas Preserve State Park on Walton Road; you are confusing us with Savannas Recreation Area on Midway Road that has camping and a dumpster for campers. Their dump station is out-of-order and only registered campers with full hookups can attached their clean-out hose to their on-site sewer hookup.
No camping of any kind. I think dogs are welcome on a leash.
