Great Atmosphere! Service staff is nice but servers talk at the host stand for a long time. Salsa was good, fresh and packed some heat. The queso chorizo was good, but was very thick. Cheese was a little grainy so it wasn't completely emulsified or had broke a little. The garnish with Fresno Chile's was a nice touch. I then tried the chicken empanadas. They were fresh and steamy when they arrived to the table. The empanadas are sweet on the inside and it reminded me of a pot pie meets sweet creamed corn. I dipped it in the tomatillo salsa and my mouth was overun with acidity. When cooking tomatillos the starches break down and become sweeter and it looses some acidity. This salsa was made with raw tomatillos so the acidity was in the forefront. I dipped my empanadas in the red salsa and enjoyed it so much more. Lastly I had the Birria quesotacos. I have had Birria all over the country and I always compare them to the ones I had in LA. These birrias were not crispy.. I couldn't tell if the tortillas were dipped in the fat like most taquerillas or if it was dipped in the braising liquid. The meat was very beefy and rich but lacked the cinnamon, chile, and aromatics I am used to. The meat was tender and juicy but was just lacking other notes. This was the first time I've had cheddar on a birria and that was a nice touch adding some sharpness on the back note. All and all I enjoyed my time at Yellow Door. I wish the servers were more engaging and would have atheist refilled my soda. But the food was good and definitely worth a return visit.

Tasty drinks, but nachos were not great and service was slow. Friendly staff and fun environment.
